As with all good clubs, after getting Eurocup III, I am afraid that a
lot of players will be sold.
    Untill now :

Van 't Schip en Aaron Winter. But I fear that more will follow. At
least Bergkamp stays for another year !

And it was just the half he sometimes show at Ajax. There he plays with
Petterson, who plays for him. Now he had to prepare for van Basten !
He is able to start rushes all over the field. He did it several times
    during the cupfights last year.
And yes.......I am afraid that pasta will be his daily food after the
    coming year.......

Last Weekend Amsterdam 717 tournament :

    Borussia Dortmund - Ajax 1 - 1 ( Borussia wins after penalties)
    AS Roma - PSV Eindhoven 0 - 1

Roma - Dortmund ( Oeps, forgot it......)
    Ajax - PSV 3 - 0 !

Nice try before the competition starts next weekend.
    New players :

240.7First victoryUTROP1::HANSSEN_JMon Aug 17 1992 10:098
    Dutch Competition started yesterday :

    SVV/Dordrecht - Ajax	0 - 3

Very tough, hard game. A lot of fauls from the SVV-side. They tried to
hinder Ajax to play football. Bergkamp was great and scored a
beautifull first goal. Blind scored in the second half 2 - 0 and
    Petterson 3 - 0.
240.8Second victory....where's Utreg ?UTROP1::HANSSEN_JTue Aug 25 1992 10:576
    Ajax - Go Ahead Eagles 3 - 1

Ajax started good and in no time it was 2 - 0. Then some kind of
depression or laziness fell upon them and in the end they could be glad
they could make that third goal. Not a great game, they have still to
warm up but we are still in lead with Feyenoord and that other club ??

    John (or anyone else)

Could you give me the latest on Ajax.

I saw in this weeks paper that they won last week which means of the three
results I am aware of they have six points yet in the Dutch League note
they are not in the top four.

What have been the rest of their results please ?

    Thanks,

    Stephen,

I stopped giving results on Ajax because :

    1. there's note about the Dutch league, where you can find the results
    2. My own Football season has started, and so I run myself behind a
ball when Ajax plays.......so I could only tell what I saw on TV...

    Ajax - Kaiserslautern 2 - 0 !

I was happy to get a ticket for this great game for the UEFA-cup. Ajax
was the best club from the beginning ; after 16 seconds it was 1-0 !
After that the germans had some god chances but after 20 minutes the
play was back for Ajax. As usual they missed some fine chances but 9
minutes before the end Jonk scored, with a lovely shot, the 2 - 0.
It was a very sportive ( one yellow card, I believe) game and good to
    watch ! Hopefully it is enough to stand the Betzenberg in two weeks ;
but Ajax is outwards better then home !!!!

For those who don't know : Ajax is doing big selling again :
after van Loen, Willems now Jonk and Bergkamp.....The de Boer boys are
watched.......I hope someone will stay.....Next year will be a hard one
to stay on top. I am curious to find out who will be bought to replace
    the ones who left.......
To answer a former question : Bergkamp choosed for spaghetti....
240.14Wake up, Ajax !UTROP1::HANSSEN_Jare you serious ?Fri Mar 05 1993 12:4518
    Unbelievable, I am still shaking.....
Last wednesday Ajax showed that they aren't fullgrown yet. Against
Auxerre they were absolute the better team but after their first goal
they started to underestimate their opponent. Where you should continue
and crush your shivering opponent they started to play beautifull and
arrogant. Was the first goal of Auxerre not warning enough, the second
goal ( a doubtfull free kick) didn't work either. The 2-2 was quickly
made after that. Doubtfull referee work, a keeper mistake ( Menzo
again) and passive football resulted in the final 4-2 loss. Clearly was
shown that Ajax misses the experienced player who can drag them out
such arrogance. Wouters was one of them......Jonk is also one, but he
was kicked out the game ( not even a yellow card ; red would be in
    place).
On the other hand they have to show result in two weeks in Amsterdam.
Normally their result was so good that they played always very closed
at home. Now they have to make the game and we will support them.
Having seen Auxerre I think it will be a great game with two attacking
teams, as we saw on wednesday. May the best go through !

    Ajax-Auxerre

What a lovely game to watch, worth the money ! In the first half, in
the beginning you saw clearly the nerves in the play of Ajax.....in the
first minutes the keeper lost the ball from Cocard who miraculously
couldn't get the ball in the goal. After that the Ajax defense had
three other lucky moments. Nobody would have wondered if it would have
been 0-4 for Auxerre. After 20 minutes Ajax started to take over the
game leading to lucky moments on the Auxerre side. Next to that two
very clear penalties were not given when Bergkamp was dragged down in
the penalty area. The second half was only Ajax, with Auxerre only
defending. And when de Boer scored we got hope again....But Auxerre has
not like Ajax a keeper-problem ; he saved in the last minutes a couple
of shots. It should be said that the referee was absolutely worthless,
trying constantly to stop the Ajax-train, letting Auxerre past valuable
time and by not giving any minutes extra....And Ajax missed very
clearly the rest and creativity of Jonk ( kicked out last time by the
guy who was still playing .....). Nice perspective for next year when
he his gone......Maybe a chance for Utrecht to win next year, Ton ?
If Auxerre plays like it can and not with the fear like sometimes
against Ajax they must be able to be the winners this year !

    Babangida is a great player,

Other Ajax buy : George Finidi. Nigerian rightwinger. When Ajax showed
interest for Babangida ( now succesfull for Roda JC) the national
trainer of Nigeria said that there was a better winger : Finidi. Two
days ago he scored his first goal, but didn't impress ( as Ajax didn't
as a whole....). Unfortunately for Ton he played last sunday very good
against Utrecht. In the next three games he ( and Ajax) can show if
they are ready for the title ; Vitesse, MVV and PSV.
Litmanen is also in a good shape, hopefully he can keep this form this
season. Van Vossen is still injured, but will return one of these days.
    Petersen is still injured too.

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

After the goal by Split they had lots of changes, like the ball against
the post and the one that just crossed the goal right before the end of
      the match.

Ajax had some changes but certainly not six real ones maybe half ones.

About the best team we can discuss about that for ages and will never

240.53Ajax-Besiktas 2-1UTROP1::HANSSEN_Jare you serious ?Thu Oct 21 1993 15:5037
re -1 I thought that Utrecht fans were such a sweeties these
days......apparently not ! Ray, just go to de Meer when they come and
enjoy the slaughter on the field ! And not before in Diemen, huh ? ;-)

    Ajax - Besiktas	2-1

One of these games where you ask yourself what the Ajax players were
doing last night. Probably wondering what they were doing.....The first
half Besiktas, as expected, just were hanging for their penalty-area
forming a visible wall...defending they call this of behaviour. Ajax
was constantly busy with trying to play to each other, not knowing
where and why. And even that didn't work out. Most chances of the
Turkish came through failures from the defense. There was no hunting
for the ball, no inspiration. The time they woke up the Turkish were
leading through an offside goal. Deserved, because they had the better
chances. After that the got more interesting, Ajax put some more
pressure and had several chances. In the second half Ajax kept the
pressure on. Van de Brom was changed ( by a sixteen old year kid called
Reuser....) because he failed as libero. The turkish attacks were not
that good as before and Ajax got more chances. Rijkaard finally scored
rightfull 1-1 and a little later Ronald de Boer scored 2-1 after a good
pass from another youngster( which name is unspellable, yet). Ajax got
more chances to enlarge the score, but missed the luck. The turkish had
another big chance when Mehmet, the scorer of the first goal could go
through in an even clearer offside position as the first goal. This
time van de Sar took care of it.
I think that Ajax still has good chances to go further. Besiktas didn't
impress me ; Ajax was more struggling with itself. In this form they
would have lost for sure against more experienced clubs !
Bad side ; the acting performance of the turkish players when they they
were hit ( and jumping up when the play continued) and the turkish
crowd throwing things or shooting fireworks on Finidi George when he
tried to kick corners ( several times he was not able to do that) or in
the next Ajax-tribune. Thank you for this behaviour, @$#%& !

staging games because of the behaviour of their fans?

Or was that the national team? Err....

I remember nothing.

    re-1 Well Mike,

I don't think there is such a ban...they still play ! And they were
friendly before and after the match. To be honest, I was surprised that
it was rather quiet because there were turkish fans ( living in
Holland) standing between the Ajax crowd and hardly anything
happened....And ofcourse the police compared their behaviour with the
english a week before......But I am afraid what's going to happen in
    Istanbul over two weeks....

    Besiktas - Ajax	0 - 4

Probably nice to know for Manchester United ; the Turkish are to beat
    in Istanbul.........
Yesterday happened what I had foreseen. Besiktas started defensive and
hoped for succesfull counters. But this time Ajax was prepared for that
and did what they have to do ; making the game and finish what had to
be done ! Only in the fifth minute there was a chance for Besiktas, van
de Sar saved great. After that Ajax controlled the game and Litmanen
scored 1-0. The second half Ajax grew stronger and had chance after
chance....It remained 0-4 through Litmanen twice and Petterson (
Scandinivian party it was...) but it could have been 0-10 !
It was good to see that Litmanen can extend his local fame to european
    fame !

John Hansen is going back to Denmark. Two years ago he came as
succesfull player to Ajax to grow and to be ready for top football. He
impressed in his first tournament. Soon after that he got serously
injured. After five operations and two unsuccesfull trials at English
clubs he signed the contract for a danish club. He realised that it was
very hard for him to return in the first team of Ajax on a moment that
they are succesfull and have a bench full of quality players......
I wish him all the best and hope he will gain his old play back.

Last year, against Auxerre, I thought they would be able to produce

    Ajax - Parma 0-0
Ajax was the better side with the best chances. Litmanen, Davids,
Peterson and Petersen had good chances to score, but unfortunately the
Italians had an angel on their goal. In the first half also Parma was
twice close to a goal. Asprilla is a great footballer to watch, he kept
constantly three Ajax-defenders busy. Unfortunately for him Blind had a
    good day.
In the second half Ajax was far more better and deserved to win. In the
end they had a massive offensive on the Parma goal. And just when Parma
was ready to be slaughtered two very strange decisions of the linesman
(!) came between. But before that Ajax had missed to much chances. The
    same old disease.......
It was a great game to watch, fast, open and reasonably friendly. The
yellow cards on both sides were overdone, not necessairy.
Best Ajax players ; Blind and Oulida.
Yes, Ajax didn't score, but Parma also didn't. And that gives Ajax
perspective in two weeks. They always play better outside !

    re. -1
I agree with you completely, John, but I'll have to disagree on the fact
that Blind and Oulida were the best players. Blind okee, but Oulida?
I thought v/d Brom should have been substituted for Oulida in the first
half. The only thing Oulida did, was 'een balletje breedleggen'. And if
he tried to do something different, he immediately lost the ball.
I think Petersen played a great game, maybe he should have scored
(maybe twice, but the ball on Petterson was good, unexpected, but
good), but he didn't deserve a substitution.

Let Parma show what they're worth, in Italy, in 13 days!
Back home, THEY will have to play, so Ajax can play a bit calmer, while
Parma has to do the 'goal-hunting'.

Let's all hope that Ajax can keep Parma on 1-1 or maybe even beat the
italians, who are the current ECWC-holders.

    Marcel.

P.S. Too bad Ajax didn't score yesterday. I was very tired after the
    game. The tension, I guess.

that makes it very difficult nowadays to get a ticket for strangers.
Let me check this out and I'll try to arrange something. I think it

a little biased, I guess......I think that Parma was lucky in Amsterdam
two weeks ago and I wouldn't call the former opponents of Ajax minor
clubs.......And what do you mean with justice ? What justice ? ????

Congrats to Parma. It wasn't a great game to watch, it looked more like
a friendly game. Only difference was that Parma created chances ( good
play of Asprilla again and Zola) and scored and Ajax didn't. I saw
absolutely no inspiration in Ajax play, except van de Sar and Blind. It
was thanks to them, and not luck, that kept Ajax on the two. I could
say things like the referee, and that the free kick wasn't one ( that
leaded to the first goal) but Parma just deserved more then Ajax. Like
the last couple of weeks, Ajax has that post-winter syndrom again.

I must agree with John, what the he!! do you mean with justice?
And just because you apparently are not an Ajax-fan, but a fan of a
MINOR club in Holland, or not a football-fan at all, doesn't give you
the right to play judge! If you actually hoped Ajax to lose, then
you're not a football-fan at all, but just some punk, who likes
    football for the hooliganism.

You just don't seem to get the point, that if Ajax (the last Dutch club
in the European Cups) gets kicked out, that it's not good for dutch
football in general, not just for Ajax!

I'm an Ajax-fan, but if (let's say:) PSV plays European football, I
want them to get through. Off course I prefer Ajax to go through with 2
big victories, and PSV with a 0-0 at home, and a 1-1 away, but I want
them to get through. In the competition they can lose as many games as
they like, but when it concerns European football, I'm a nationalist,
and want the Dutch teams to win. And not like:'They are our rivals in the
competition, so I also want them to lose in the EC!
THAT ATTITUDE SU@KS! That's what has ruined the pleasure in nowadays
football: the mentality of some people!

Think about what I said, will you? At least something good can lead

	Well, let's have another try:

    Another black day in history.

After Parma (they were better, hard to admit, but true) and NEC (they
were lucky), now comes Feijenoord, and they can't help it, but the ref,
Blankenstein, is either a Feijenoord-fan or an Ajax-hater or a
    home-whistler (thuisfluiter).

That Fin, not Gunntlaugson, made 3 fouls within 5 minutes and injured 2
players and gets away with it.
Danny Blind fouls someone and gets the yellow card! Ridiculous!

And there were (at least) 3 real penalties for Ajax, which they didn't
    get: - 3rd minute, Kanu.
    		- second half, Kanu gets kicked down
    		- later the second half, De Wolf throws someone to the
    			ground.
Not to mention Van Gobbel against Van Vossen.

Let's face it, folks: We've 'not been helped' again.

This line has been modified, and it's whole meaning is lost.

    AJAX - Hajduk Split 3-0 !

So Ajax is in the semi's, after beating Hajduk 3-0 ! Ajax was not on
its best but enough to win. It could have been easily five or six
zero... Goals from Kanu and the Boer (2x). Hajduk only remained for own
goal and was never dangerious. It looked as if they were glad (!) to
    loose here......
So next game is Bayern. It will be a game with something extra. bayern
has beaten Ajax before in the seventies and next to that they were so
sportive to win from Ajax with 8-0 in the final game of Johan Cruyff.
Time for a sportive revenge I guess......

Anyone see the " Dreaming of Ajax " documentary on Friday night on
BBC2, watching this it is no wonder they are the best club side in
Europe, probably the world. The set up at the club was unbelievable,
even down to the 8 year old's they have playing.

Seven of the European Cup winning team from last season came through
the youth policy, which must be the best football development programme
running in any country in the world.

re -1 Ofcourse I saw this program, presented by Gary Lineker.
And even in this program they couldn't show all that Ajax is doing to
develop good footballers. They have also an extinsive program of
scouting to find the best players all over the country and world to
match them with their own 'school.' Look how Jari Litmanen, Finidi
George and Kanu were fitted in the team. And others are standing
already ready for the big jump.
The difference with the'school' a couple of years ago is that in
earlier days only the best were selected. Now a broader approach is
done and you can see it at the first team of Ajax ; all players are
equally good...Any wonder that the second team of Ajax plays so well in
    the Cup games ?
On the other hand I think that Ajax is not unique, I know that PSV
Eindhoven also has their own 'school.'

John, after Austria Salzburg - Ajax last Champions League (both 1:1) I have been
proud, that an Austrian team made two points against the best European team.

But seeing Real Madrid - Ajax yesterday , my opinion is, this AJAX 1995 is one
class better than last year.

Congratulation to this season's Champions League winner Ajax Amsterdam (I
believe).

Sorry, that Juventus played with the 2nd team in the other group, that has
stopped Ranger's and Bucarest's chances

Yes, Ajax is magic but also human. The game against Grasshoppers wasn't
to inspiring because Ajax was not motivated to play against them. Today

Yes, Ajax lost last Sunday with 1-0 in Tilburg. It was not the referee,
it was not the foul play of Willem II it was their own stupid mistake.
Missing to much chances and playing uninspired. Maybe it's good for

    Thank you Mr Bosman,

the problem with Ajax right now is that the Bosman-case has ruined the
groupidea that was the strongest part of the success of Ajax. Some
players are offered unbelievable sums of money for a transfer. Some of
them have an ending contract after this season. Agreement was that they
would stay at least the coming two years with Ajax ( agreed after last
Eurocupwin) and leave then. But they haven't signed yet and that gave
anger with the trainer and some teammates who stay with Ajax as agreed.
This anger can be seen in the field so that even amateurs can win from
them. The game against Zaragossa was that little motivation for not
loosing but for the rest I fear the worst. As always with Ajax, a
    mentality-question.......

players don't have the form they need ( Blind, de Boer (both), Bogarde,
and so on). With the return of Litmanen I hope that Ajax comes back in

season just has been a disaster. Lost some international games ( Juve,

Seeing the games I can just say, we have serious problems. The football
