Can anyone provide a complete player listing by shirt number (1-20) for
Germany and Denmark?

"Pluky Danes fall 3-1 to strong Germans"
I think the Danish injuries and lack of fitness will finally take their
toll tonight. The Germans are too strong and too regimented to fail
although they will be given quite a shock by the persistence and
tenacity of the Danes.
Reidle will score first for the Germans after 20 minutes of relatively
uneventfull football (1-0). The Danes, through Laudrup and Larsen will
attack down the right side putting pressure on Brehme and Buchwald.
Povlsen and Jensen will miss easy chances. Half time score (1-0).
Second half, the Danes continue where they left off and after 8 minutes
Povlsen gets the equaliser (1-1). Germany react quickly but are
frustrated by Schmeichel and a save off the line by Olsen. The Danes
keep putting pressure on the Germans, but can't break through.
Getting increasingly tired and frustrated, the Danes give away a
free-kick outside the area. Hassler hits the post and Klinsman scores
on the rebound (2-1) with 20 minutes remaining.
For the next 18 minutes, the Danes keep attacking but with little
success, they are too tired to attack defenders or run into space.
The Germans control the ball and slow the game down and the crowd start
whistling and slow-hand clapping. In the last two minutes, the Danish
defence fianlly falters when Effenberg curls a shot into the far post
(3-1).
Now you don't need to watch the game tonight!!!

(Heart vs. Head - Heart wins)
*** The Danes did it ***
PLSER - BRATWURST
2 - 1
After a furious attacking start of the german team, which didn't
produce any clear chances, the first Danish counter attack took the
Germans by surprise.
After a Buchwald header, Schmeichel's kick-off found Brian Laudrup.
A quick run, double-pass with Povlsen (Kohler looked like a schoolboy),
to leave Laudrup unmarked at the corner of the box. Immel had no chance
to get his rocket. (22 min).
The Danes became stronger after that, produced more pressure, but the
German defense wouldn't struggle. Some good saves by Illgner
(Christensen 37', Larsen 41').
Germany only had one more chance in the first half, but Sammer's 22m
shot was well cleared by Schmeichel.
Halftime 1:0
The second half started with a very disciplined but attacking German
team. A Riedle header hit the woodworf (49'). Klinsmann was substituted
by Doll (55'), Buchwald left for Mller (60'). Some more chances for
the Germans, but Schmeichel looked unbeatable. Until when Doll found
Riedle unmarked in the 68th minute and his header went right into the
net. After that, the Danes were getting tired, German confidence grew.
A Mller goal was disallowed, due to a preceding foul.
In the 86th minute, when all were settling for extratime, the Danes
were given a free kick. A quick pass from Christofte to Sivebaek,
and his 27-m shot into the far corner gave the championship to the
Danes.
Maybe.

The temperature is rising up to sauna-heat here in Gothenburg. The
weather is great, 26c, sunny and no wind. Outside Ullevi there is
thousands of fans trying to buy tickets on the black market. Current
price for a standing-ticket (UEFA price SEK 120:-) is now SEK 2000:-.
There is fans everywherein the city, mosly dressed in red and wite.
I predict 2-0 for Germany. Hssler and Klinsmann scores. But my hopes
is for Denmark. I will be wearing a red shirt, a red/white cap and bring
a Danish flag. When a neighbour country participate in a final, it's
common to cheer for them. It's not much of that UK rivalty here in
Scandinavia (unless we play eachother :-))
Yesterday i met some of the Swedish players in a pub. Me and my mate
asked to Thomas Brolin about the semi. He said he had the feeling of
running around in a circle facing 4-5 whithe shirts all the time,
passing the ball to each other. He also said that the team was very
nervous and tensed before the game. He gave much credit to the German
team, and said that they won fair. It was great to meet them under so
relaxed forms, and we wished the best of luck in the future
qualification-games.
Ja det er Danmark, ja det er Danmark, ol, ol, ol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re .19 Can ye guys stop some time with your it could have been England crap..
I admit my favourite team was Holland, but Denmark deserve the title. They
played two of the best teams in the world and beat them fair and square. They
had the final under complete control, and the Germans never really looked like
scoring in the second half.
Most Germans here are not too upset at losing, they admitted that Denmark
were the best and most adventurous team. I really enjoyed the final it was a
good game, and a good advertisement for the sport. It was also a joy to watch
the Danes celebrate in Copenhagen...
I just wonder if Brian Laudrup can play that kind of football for Bayern
next season if he's still here...

Dear Mr. (or is it Miss, Ms, or Mrs) Mair, let's not forget that one
of Scotland's so-call "goals" actually hit the post, and wouldn't have
gone in if the keeper hadn't slipped over and knocked the ball into his
own net. Oh, and the other one was also a CIS own goal, a deflection
that the keeper otherwise had covered, so MaClair still hasn't really
scored yet for the Scots. The penalty was also a blatant dive ala
Klinsman.
Markypoos, if you were a true Brit (as I believe you are) you'd swallow
your pride and admit that your team were pooh (as England indeed were)

| Re: .21
Well, I thought I'd keep quiet. But obviously, I was not the only
one who was "seeing things". Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that
Denmark didn't deserve to win. They played really well. It's just that
it was a pity that the 2 goals went in the way they did. I felt that no
matter what the Germans did ( and they really tried everything ) , they
just wouldn't score.
In the first goal, I thought that there was an obvious foul on
Brehme and even after that when Poulsen relayed the ball to Jensen,
anybody notice the way Effenberg (I think) fell to the ground. And as
he fell, his feet were up in the air and the ball hit them on its way
into the net.
The second goal, I have replayed it about 5 times and it really did
look to me as though that Vilfort used a couple of fingers to control
the ball. This is pretty obvious especially when you see it in slow
motion and from the back of the goal angle. Still, both were good
goals. It was a pity that Germany had to lose like that.
I thought the referee was lousy. But I thought he was a lot better
that M. Vautrot (sp) who was not present at the Championships. Good
sign for Euro Football.

Kumar

| re .25 "a pity the German's had to lose like that" ????
A can't think of any german defeat that would be a "pity". A great side
they may be, but they are definitely lacking in the fair
play/gentlemanly conduct department. IF (notice the capitals, this
happens rarely) they are ever the victim of a bit of bad luck, a
poor decision or a taste of their own medicine, then it's not before time !
Actually, it would have been a pity had they lost to that excuse for a
team that got to the final of the world cup last time, I admit it.
Anyway, let's cut the crap here. Germany have had their fair share of
success, the Danes thoroughly deserve theirs. The good guys won ...

Germany had a fair bit of luck throughout the tournament (extra-time
goal against the CIS, several near misses by Scotland and then relying
on the Scots beating the CIS) so I hardly think they can complain if
decisions went against them in the final. Besides which, the two goals
were not clearly infringements since even the TV replays were not
conclusive.
Denmark gave a perfect exhibition of playing football "on the break"
and both their commitment and fitness were tremendous. It was a great
team performance, from Schmichael who made three or four great saves
right through to Povlsen and Laudrup, who held the ball up so well,
allowing their midfielders to join them. Germany seemed to get more and
more rattled as things went wrong resulting in even more ludicrous
diving and over-hit crosses.
Incidentally, I predicted, about 15 mins. before the end, that if
Denmark won, Motson would say that therefore England's result against
them would look much better. And he duly did, just after they picked up
the trophy. (Not much of a prediction, I know, but it just shows what a
merchant banker he really is.)

Germany was lucky to reach the semis at all. They had a single good
performance, that was against the Swedes. (In contrast to the WC, IMO).
Denmark scored and Germany didn't. No need to bother. If I had been the
ref, I would have disallowed to first goal. Vilfort clearly 'mowed'
Brehme off the lawn. The second goal looked ok to me at first glance.
When I watched the slo-mo (from behind the goal) for the first time,
I saw it was a handball. When I watched it the second time, it rather
looked like he pressed the shoulder against the ball to control it.
The goal is allright and well deserved after all.
I was, btw, very upset to notice, that the german players did not
applaude or show any respect when Denmark was announced EC 92.
The german TV commentators (right word?) were annoying. The were
100% biased, nothing but excuses for the bad german performance.
But after all, we were tho only team to beat the only team who beat the
EC. And that's a fact, man.
Another fact is, that Voeller has quit his international carreer.

| Great show from Denmark ! It was not beautifull but spectacular :
What a savings from Schmaichel against Klinsmanns header and the
onehand grab of the ball.....great !
But......it was a pity to see that the Danes were defending most of the
time. Hanging with ten for your goal.......I hope they have now as Euro
Champions the convidence to play offensive football !
Or has offensive football no future anymore ?????
But as I said before ; the Danes gave us some spectacle ; it wasn't as
boring as many plays in the World Championsship two years ago....
