Well, let's see if we've got any real football supporters out there ?

I've been mug enough to have followed the Bees since '61, from Div 3
to Div 4, and back again, and again, and again .... but have enjoyed
quite a lot of the experience. Now we're in the heady heights of Div 1
    - OK Div 2 really, but even that's a unique experience for most of us.

So, any more Red-and-Whites prepared to come out of the closet ?
    Let's hear from you ....

    Jim

	No, but...

In a case before the local magistrates, a man was charged with
being drunk and disorderly at Brentford football ground. When
asked if he had anything to say in answer to the charge, the man
replied, "Of course I'd had two or three pints, Your Honour.
	You can't watch Brentford sober."

    Yeah, very good ...

And how about the guy who decided on a whim to go to see Brentford one
Saturday, so he phoned the ground to find out what time kick-off was,
    and was told:

    (You guessed it...)

"Well, what time can you get here ?"

Any more old-uns to get out of the way ?

    Tranmere (0) 3 - Brentford (2) 2

Yet again the Bees let a 2-goal lead slip (cf. Barnsley).
By all accounts they gave Tranmere a stuffing for 45 mins., then decided
they'd done enough and packed up and went home.

Anybody see the game who can confirm/correct this ?

I didn't, but the papers said Brentford stuffed Tranmere. They missed a
penalty, had a perfectly good goal disallowed and still went 2-0 up.
Tranmere got better in the second half and Pat Nevin woke up and scored
    two goals.

    Anglo-Italian Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg:

    Brentford - 3 YEESSS !
        (Allon 3)

                      Derby - 4 WHOOPS !!

So the Bees lose their fifth game in a row, and have it all to do in
the second leg. Those who saw the Milwall game on the box last week
    will know why !

Any news from our Italian noters on the Italian semi-final ? Who's
    playing, any results ?

Well, if you'll settle for Geordie rather than Italian, it said on the Carlton
prog last night that their first leg is next Wed - Bari against Cesena (I
think).

Helluva game last night!

Yeah, 2 televised games and 10 goals conceded ! Great entertainment,
unless you happen to support the bastards !

(The Bees first win of 1993 !!)

Oh well, just Div 1 to concentrate on now (staying in it, that is!)

Then they go and beat Wolves away, draw with Luton away, and lose to
Cambridge at home, with Cambridge down to 10 men after one of them got
sent off for fighting - with one of his own team !!

    It's a funny old game, innit ?

It's about time something happened in this note, and since I seem to be the
only subscribing supporter of London's best team ..... (wait for it)

Well, it's all to play for this weekend. Having started the year in
10th place in Div 1 the Bees now need to win the last game of the
season, away to Bristol City, to stay up. We could lose it and not be
relegated, if Cambridge and Birmingham both lose, but we don't wanna
take that chance - we're just gonna go out and STUFF them !!

Last weekend's win over Barnsley was the first at home since Boxing Day !
What more can I say ?

For those of you with other allegiances, you'll be interested in news
of your former favourites (won't you ?). Well, Kenny Samson has settled
smoothly in to the back four and continues to show impressive speed,
commitment and aerial power (for a superannuated, dog-slow, midget !!),
Gerry Peyton continues to display all his usual steadiness and agility in
goal, Alan Dickens has been ever-creative and inventive in midfield, and
up front Joe Allon has continued to give oppposing defences nightmares with
his sharpness and predatory instincts (if he were 2 yards faster and 4
stone lighter he might even score occasionally !) Thanks to all the
clubs who donated these valued players to the cause of keeping
Brentford where they belong (in the sh*t, it appears).

So, having trounced Bristol on Saturday, here's to next season when
Div. 1 will see what we can really do !

    Jim

[Actually, Gerry Peyton's been playing pretty well !]

Well I would like to wish you all the best for Saturday. You
have the chance of relegating Birmingham and that means a lot
to me and the rest of the Baggies. Don't let us down.

Thats very good of yer but I can't see us going up through
        the play-offs.

Still, I'll give you a nod and a wink if you win on Saturday.
