I believe the Glasgow Rangers want Everton midfielder Stuart McCall for
    about 1.5 million.

Also spurs are attempting to sign chelsea striker Gordon Durie for 2.2
million, and are also interested in aston villas central defender Paul
    McGrath at about 750 000.

Also heard that Blackburn have offered 1.25 million to liverpool
for david speedie and ronny rosenthal, and both of them have asked for
    time to think about it..

Whilst on the subject of Dalglish, read in yesterday's paper that he
guested for Hibs in Alan Sneddon's testimonial against Villa on Monday
night.....and was by far the best man on the park.

The report said his touch and vision looked as sharp as ever. He made
Hibs' first 2 goals with defence-splitting passes. He left the field
after 60odd minutes to a standing ovation from the 6000 strong crowd.

Final score was Hibs 4 Villa 2.

Celtic have indeed completed the signing of Middlesborough centre-half,
    Tony Mowbray for 1,000,000.
Whether he's worth that kind of money,I do not know.
What I do know is,that the transfer market has started going loopy
again, when an English 2nd division club can charge that kind of money for
someone who's completely unknown North of the border !!

Liam Brady has apparently another million quid burning a hole in his

| | Hi,
can some kind soul enter a few of the major post-season transfers,
	including english and contintental leagues.
I know they're in each of the specific team topics, but it's not a
lot of fun going through every reply of every topic. Oops! Gave
myself away as a part-time football noter :-)
	Thanks from a pommie down-under.

| | RE -1. The Times publishes a list of all the teams and players
in the English Premier League just before the season starts.
It lists all new players (and possibly fees) for each club.
I'll try and get a copy and type up the major news here.
Like you, when I worked abroad I found it a real pain to read
50 notes of "will he/won't he sign" without ever really
    discovering what happened.

| | After reading all the notes about Collywobble in the Forest not, how
about resurrecting this note for first notification of impending
transfers with discussion in club notes? A bit like Car Quotes &
    discussion in the Cars conference?

    To start it off -

Evening Standard reports a last minute bid from Blackburn for Warren
Barton of over the #4.5m Newcastle have bid. Everton are also lurking
    in the shadows.

| | That's a good move by Liverpool. With that bunch of jessies Roy Evans currently
calls a midfield, they need someone who might win a tackle occasionally. 8-)

| 82.71 | Going no-where | CHEFS::BURTON | Hoddle is ZOD, GOD's dad | Wed May 17 1995 16:36 | 28 |
| | With regards to the Dennis Wise issue, I received this mail from the
    Chelsea mailing list today which was copied from the PA news service;

England midfielder Dennis Wise is staying at Chelsea, manager Glenn Hoddle
    insisted today.
Earlier this season Wise became the first Premiership player to sign a deal
taking him into the next millennium and Hoddle slammed reports that he is
    to be sold.
"The speculation is utter rubbish. Dennis Wise is central to Chelsea's
future plans. We have had no enquiries, let alone negotiations, about his
transfer," said Hoddle in a joint statement with managing director Colin
    Hutchinson.
Wise, who is due back in court this summer to appeal against a three-month
prison sentence for an assault on a taxi driver, has not played for
Chelsea since the end of February because of injury.
But there is no questioning his future at the Bridge.
"We want to strengthen the squad and you don't achieve that by
selling your best players," added Hoddle and Hutchinson.
"Last October Dennis signed a contract with Chelsea into the year 2000.
Dennis has told us both -- and confirmmed this on the in-house Channel
Chelsea TV station last Sunday -- that he is very happy at Chelsea and
wants to finish his career here."

Well I hope this is true !!!

    Cheers
    Nige
