| | I went on Saturday and it was a game it REALLY could have been 10 all.

Barnet's defence is terrible and needs serious strengthening if this
isn't to happen again. The really worrying thing was that Crewe weren't
THAT good, and still scored 7!!

Apparently Gary Phillips (Goalie) and three other players have been
dropped for Wednesdays Rumbelows Cup match with Brentford. It will be
interesting to see how they get on against a side that is considerably
    better than Crewe.

I'm debating whether to go to Mansfield on Saturday or not. I must be
    mad!!

| | For reasons I still don't completely understand, I found myself at Underhill
on Saturday, watching Barnet beat Doncaster 1-0. And if anyone thinks
something must have changed since the oipening game, just wait. Barnet just
don't seem to believe in playing with a defence - their No 6 was often to be
seen attempting to link up with the forwards, for instance.
Luckily for Barnet, Rovers' strikers were completely inept. They had chances
to go ahead in the first half, but didn't trouble the keeper. In the second,
they hit the post, and then the rebound was knocked straight to someone on the
line. Later, one got round the keeper, passed to someone who was even better
placed, and this guy tried to trap it and fell over!
The goal was about the only touch of class all afternoon, as Bull slipped his
marker just inside Rover's half, pushed it forward once and then chipped the
stranded keeper from at least 35 yards.
Highly recommended for a good-natured entertaining day out. And Barnet are now
in the top 3.

Things havent changed then! ... I understand though, that you cannot
swap ends at half time this season?
As for the defence...they have not let in a goal (but scored six) at
home since the 4-7 defeat...

| | It was a very cold night at Underhill, the crowd huddled into the stands
too watch an expected home win against lowly Carlise. The first half was
deadlock, the Bees playing too much up-and-over, and Carlise holding steady
at the back, making a few half-hearted attempts up front. The deadlock was
boroken with a typical own goal, the Bees defender putting out a leg to a
hard low cross. Half time the wife predicted a 0-3 defeat, and soon after
the break a Carlisle penalty made the prediction look good. All was not lost,
though, and the Bees, for once playing some one-touch football, scored 3 goals
in 10 minutes to take the lead. A further goal after Carlise started to rally
again, settled the game. My half time prediction of 5-2 to the Bees, nearly
came true when the Bees broke though the Carlisle defence in the last minute.
The Bees though failed to make the 3 to 1 man advantage pay. A 4-2 win on the
night a good result.

Last week Barnet were fined 50K by the FA for financial irregularities.
Flashman had a couple of altercations with a couple of members of the press

This prompted Fry to suggest to Flashman that he should resign.
Yesterday Fry got the "Brown envelope" delivered.
The players are not at all happy. It will be interesting to see what happens

Barnet are at home to WOKING (top of GMV) in the FACUP proper on
    Saturday 12th Nov.

With a ground capacity of only 3900 can someone tell me how a little
club like this can be accepted into the football league ?.
Woking need 3900 tickets to meet their own demand but Barnet have
supplied only 1200, initially they only supplied 1000. Due to this
Wokings allocation was 1 per person.

Still I got mine. Any Barnet Deccies going ??

    Barnet 4 (0) Woking 4 (3)

Well what a day out this was. Woking were like a team possessed.
Barnett were well and truly torn apart in the first 35 minutes of the
game. By half time it could have been 7 nil. Colin Fielder opened the
scoring with a good header after being left unmarked on the spot from a
corner. Lenny Dennis put Woking 0-2 up with a shot into an open net
after Clive Walker had rounded three Bees defenders and struck a post.
The ball ended up at Lennys feet on the edge of the box. Memories of
West Brom were flooding back. 30 minutes gone and Clive Walker made it
0-3 with another from outside the area. Lenny Dennis had a 4th
disallowed, a perfect strike cancelled out for a dodgy offside given
by a lino 25 yards behind the play. Scott Steele hit a post and had
two others saved. Barnet had nothing to talk of in the whole of the
    first 45.,

The 2nd 45 was a different story. Ray Clemence must have put something
in the Barnet tea as they pushed on looking to take the play away from
the visiting cards. Woking had their backs to the wall with Barnet
playing a lot of long balls to the front men who were bigger and
stronger than Wokings back 4. After about 10 mins of the 2nd it was
1-3. A ripple of applause from the Bees faithful . 15 gone saw it at
2-3 and hope returned to UnderHill. Completely against the run of play
Scott Steele made it 2-4 with a deflected shot sooo fortunate that
noone could actually believe it went in. No sooner had we celebrated
that it was 3-4. Everytime Barnet went forward they looked like
scoring. What a last 15 minutes it was. Woking were very shakey and
it was no surprise to see them equalise 4-4 with 10 to go.

The return is on the 22 Nov at Kingfield Woking.
No way can it live up to this one.

| | Bad news, (or maybe it's good news), for Barnet. Ray Clemence has gone to
