I would like to start a note on Farnborough Town who play in the
     Vauxhall Conference.(Farnborough in Hampshire)
Are there any other supporters out there or who are interested in
     non-league football?

    Yes, there are ACTUALLY!!!

I often frequent such clubs as Wycombe, Slough, Farnborough, Wokingham,
    Windsor and Woking.

A good start for Farnborough 1-0 away at Stafford on Saturday.

Did you know there are a few Digital people playing non-league
    football:

ie:- Michael Barnes (Ex Reading) now with Chesham Utd (Diadora Premier)
Simon Pentland Staines Town (Diadora Premier)
Brian House Abingdon Town (Diadora League Divison 1)

    Any others out there??

Farnborough have made a fantastic start to their new campaign in the
    Conference: P12 W9 D1 L2 PTS 28.

They are just ahead of Wycombe Wanderers who have a game in hand.
Wycombe broke the Conference record with 8 straight wins from the
start of the season and have been averaging over 4,000 for home
gates (5,200+ vs. Colchester). Not a bad start!

Another good win for Farnborough keeping them at the top. The

I went to Upton Park on Saturday to see the FA Cup 3rd round tie.
Farnborough played very well, causing West Ham many problems. They are
a very stylish side, prefering to play the passing game rather than
hoofing it up field. I was impressed by their defender and captain
Wigmore, and also Simon Reed up front.

West Ham took the lead through Julian Dicks. The ball went under
Farnborough's keeper's body. Farnborough equalised when a scramble in
the Hammers' penalty area resulted in a hand ball from a defender.
Dean Coney scored from the penalty to set up the replay (again at Upton
Park). The reaction from Farnborough's players and supporters at the
end was as if they had beaten West Ham, not drawn. The Hammers were
booed off the park at the end of the game. Their supporters were not
    too happy (slight understatement there).

In a moment of mandnes I decided to venture out to High Wycombe last
Monday night to watch Bro take on Wanderers. 2nd v 3rd in the
conference sounded like a good game and indeed it was.

The game should never have been started. The pitch was hard and
slippy. Bro took an early lead and looked the better side before
they lost goalkeeper John Power after 20 minutes wqith a broken leg.
John had played with Limerick for a couple of seasons and he was
the main reason I went to the game.

Wycombe equalised early in the second half after full back Wayne Stemp
missed a cross. After 62 minutes the referee called a halt to the
proceedings. his decision was influenced by a player sliding into the
hoardings. The Wycombe fans were furious. They would probably have
won. The Bro fans were thrilled and I think justice ws done as John
Power's injury changed the face of the game. He can't be feeling too
pleased having broken his leg in a match that never counted.

    Gary,

Were you impressed with the ground ?? It is only a couple of seasons
old and is one of the best outside the football league. How does this
rate along side the grounds in the LOI ?? I know what Terryland is
like but are the other grounds of a better standard in the league ??

I was very impressed with the ground. It's covered on all sides
although there doesn't seem to be a lot of seats which couldbe a
problem withthe advent of all seater stadia.

There's a good atmosphere at games too.

Re the L.O.I., well Terryland is one of the worst grounds but Adams
Park is still better than most.

The Bro fanswere not impressed and even chanted "Shitty Ground" however
I believe Chgerrywood Park is vastly inferior.

One minor nit is that the ground is at the end of along road and with
only one exit you've got to be prepared for a long wait to get out.

Blasphemy - I never have and never will play for Abingdon Utd.

I do still play for Abingdon Town although I tore my cruciate ligament
in my knee (a la Gazza) in November and I don't expect to play again
    this season.

The boys seem to be doing well enough without me, 4th in division 1 in
the thick of the promotion race. I predict us to go up this year
replacing the relegated Staines (in your pants) Town & Simon
(U.T.B.N.B. if only he had of done) Pentland in the premier.

Please excuse the error.. in which case do your reserves play in the
suburban league, cos we (camberley) played up there a few weeks ago
and mugged them 2-1, and we upset the groundsman by knocking the
mud off our boots on the nice white wall around the pitch !
    Nice ground though.

    Chris,
You must know Eddie down at Camberley, who plays down at Gods own
Camberley Sunday Premier side Capers Corinthians (ex Pantiles
Marbella). Also Dave Parker who drove all the way to Abingdon for 1.5
minutes as a sub; who got on for the last five minutes for us on the
Sunday after, got sent off for *getting* punched 2 minutes later, then
caused about 2000 worth of damage to his car while leaving the game,
by stoving it up the arse of the car in front at a roundabout.

The weekend wasn't a total disaster however, as he doesn't usually get
    on for us at all.

Haven't Camberley picked up lately. Where did all the new players come
from? Also I saw them against Frimley Green the other week at Krooner,
and the pitch even looked okay. Unbelievable, seeing as Krooner was possibly
less suited for good football than say, the surface of the moon.

I was wondering where our sub had got to for the last couple of games
how did he get sent off for getting whacked?? Weren't you playing
    against Pantiles?

Eddie's been absent aswell for the last two games,is he injured?

I joined just before Xmas so i'm not sure about the past down there
but I was a bit surprised by the pitch and overall setup at Kronner
cos it's been a bit of a standing joke for the last few years.

I was supposed to play in that friendly with Frimley but decided watching
Woking at Hereford was much more sensible..we all make mistakes .

	Chris,
We were playing A.C. Woking. Dave Parker got involved with
their winger after a tackle. The winger threw a punch (missed I think).
Dave got up and started to put his most aggressive look on, and got
sent off. As for the Pantiles game the week after, they did us 4-1.
As for Eddy, he played in the Pantiles game a couple of weeks
ago, but we saw him last week and he said he hadnt trained, so may well
	be injured.
I know that Ian Waldren has taken over as chairman down at
Camberley so that may well have shaken things up. Are they paying
	anybody down there these days?

Blimey he must have scared the Ref into sending off :^) hahaha
in fact i'm surprised the rest off you could carry on !!

I hope eddie returns cos we're thinking off going up Pantiles
after the game Sat (which incidently is Farnboro Res at whatever
they call their place?) and he'd got us in last time !!

and yes is the answer to your last question, but i haven't seen
    	any yet :^(

Ian Waldren did shake it up, and the first team have improved
beyond recognistion apparently, but the stiff's have not been
too good.. rock bottom in fact, but just after i joined
John Land (know him) took charge and kick out surplus, and we've
won 3 out the last 4 and are off the bottom, things are looking up

You must live in Camberley to know so much ?

	re -1

	Chris,
Yeah I live in Camberley and therefore know a few of the
blokes who've played there in the past few seasons and a bit
about whats been going on. Generally anything interesting about
the local clubs gets about quickly.

As for the result against AC Woking, it was 2-0, but they did us
3-1 the week before in the cup. The AC team is entirely made up of
Italian lads and its always a fiery game.

You'll find that Farnborough Reserves arent so much the reserves,
more of a youth team extension. They are all youngsters.
I think that when Farnborough need someone for the first team,
they generally get someone on loan.

I'm sure Eddy must love having you lot in Pantiles, trying to tap
him up for free beer all night!! I couldn't play on Saturday,
work all night, then play Sundays like he does. No thanks!! However
playing Saturdays, going out on the *schteam*, and playing Sundays
	I can handle!! 8^)

yes, Chris our reserves play in the suburban. Wasn't that your first
win this season at our place ?? The lads were certainly embarassed
    afterwards.

I didn't realise you played at Camberly. I remember playing there a
couple of seasons back in Div 2. We got changed under the old stand
and it poured the whole game. A couple of our players got in the
changing room afterwards to find their clothes completely drenched
where the rain had been p***ing in through the roof.

Good idea to burn the thing down.... I take it the chairman was
involved ???? The changing rooms aren't bad now. Room for at least 4
to change at any one time and running water in the showers. has the

Farnborough drew 1-1 with Dorking on Saturday in the FA Cup 4th (and
final) qualifying round. So both teams go into the hat for the first
    round proper.

Also in the hat are my team Abingdon Town who gained a very creditable
0-0 draw with conference side Merthyr Tydfil. The replay is on

Not that anybody is really interested but if Abingdon Town are
sucessfull at Merthyr on Thursday night then we have an away tie at
    Wycombe Wanderers.

If I wasn't injured I would be disappointed with the draw - after doing
all the hard work to get in the hat for the FA Cup 1st round we draw a
team who we regularly play in pre-season friendlies and could draw any
year in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup.

Aylesbury have got the plum draw if they beat Enfield in a replay -

Well, I went to Farnborough town on saturday to watch the match against
Stalybridge Celtic. Celtic took the lead quite early on in the first
half, only to let Farnborough get an equiliser just before half time.
Celtic managed to win the game 2-1 with a goal in the second half.

The last few games for Farnborough have been a bit of a dissapointment,
they are not playing the quality passing game that served them so well
at the end of last season, and the beggining of this. In an earlier not
I noticed Jim Wigmore comming in for some praise, He seems to be
struggling this season. I think this could be due to the no pass back
rule. Wigmore seems less confident now that the safty net of a pass to
goalie has gone away. All I have seen a the Bro' is the hoof it and
hope approach. I hope they regain some of the style that took them to
West Ham. I think they have a game on the 14th-nov but I can't attend,
I'll see them again on 21st-nov against Boston United. Good luck bro'

game? (I'll be coming by train from Farnborough)

    Dave,

the stations 15 minutes away from the ground. Few pubs on the way.
Your best bet would be the club house as it's easier to deposit
excess alcohol there and not carry it with you for a mile.

Dave,

how long have you been a Farnborough fan?

Way back when I was at school my home town team Billericay gave Farnborough
2 good stuffings in FA Vase Semi-Finals. Included in that was a 6-0 victory
in a near blizzard (one straight from a corner) in the 2nd leg after FT had
won the 1st leg 2-0.

That bit of nostalgia makes me feel old. And I'm getting married soon.
Better start buying those M&S jumpers for my impending middle age. OH,
DEPRESSION!!!

As long as you don't mention Tiverton........

Well we nearly got our first ever league point against Woking in the conferance
last night. I thought F'boro put up a good display in the second half (apart from the
last minute)

Congratulations to Wokings Batty & Brown for being picked for the England
Semi-Professional squad.

Suppose I'll have to support Rusden & Diamonds next weekend with F'boro without
a fixture.

	We'll beat Woking one day!!

What did you think of Walkers goal in the second half.

I thought it was an absolute blinder.

What was all the fuss about the penalty at the end,I thought it was pretty clear
cut,I also thought if the defender had shutup he would'nt have got sent off as
the ref did not appear to have any intention of even booking him, untill he kept
arguing about the decision.

Still it was an enjoyable game, and not a bad crowd for a non-league match 1,994.

I've not seen Rushden but if they were watching last night they've probably
concluded that we are pretty weak in the air at the back,so a few giraffes will
be their top priority for the cup games, plus shackles for our diamond Clive
"walks on water" Walker.

Watching Clive the other night - I had no idea just how skilful he is.
Granted this is only ? GMV but jeeze what a player. He turned a
defender inside out 10 times in 10 yards..

As for the penalty - well it definately was. I reckon the defender was
walking argument or not. Grant Payne was clear through on goal.
Rule 1 says bin the player.

    See you Saturday Steve ????

no comment about Saturday ......Only that we will take them at home.

regarding the penalty.Grant Payne was quoted in the Woking-News-and-Mail as
saying he thought it was a harsh decision and was suprised a penalty was given.
This implies either he thought it was a fair tackle or he was'nt in the area.

Saturday, went to Northwich and saw Farnboro' win 2-1. wasn't a classic game
but we came away with 3 vital points which ensure that we will be in the conference
next season. Jamie Horton scored the first goal on his first appearance since a long
term injury. Ricky Denny scored the second from about 20 yrds out. The Vics came back
in the second half but never really looked like getting the equiliser.

Monday, Dagenham & Redbridge were the visitors and totally outplayed the home
team going 3 goals up in the first half. F'boro just didn't seem to want to play.

	Fixtures to come:-
Thurs 20th Havent v F'boro (Hants Snr Cup Final at Fratton park)

		Tues 25th Merthyr Tydfil v F'boro GMVC
		Sat 29th F'boro v Southport
		Sat 6th May Stafford v F'boro

Stafford certainly relegated. Woking are the only team capable of cathching
Macclesfield. Macclesfield need one more win to gain the championship.
Doesn't look like there is going to be any promotion to the league as nobody
possible of winning the Conference has a good enough ground.

	News Just In!!!

After being sacked as player/manager by Weymouth, Trevor Senior (Ex
Reading, Woking, F'boro, Just about any other lower division club in the
south) has re-joined Farnborough Town.
Trevor was instumental in F'boro getting promotion from the Beazer
Premier into the GMVC during the 93/94 season. He was second leading goal
scorer during that season after Chris Boothe, however he also set up most of
Boothes goals anyway.
Looks like F'boro might get more than 1 goal a game next season (If
Trevor is still up to playing Conference level football)
