Users experiencing problems logging into ALL-IN-1 after upgrading to VMS V6.2. Users are connecting to IOS File Cabinet via TeamLinks from MacIntosh. If a MacIntosh is turned off and a user receives a mail message the port that the MacIntosh was connected to goes in a FIN WAT state. This problem only exists for TCP/IP connections. Users connected over DECNET do not run into this. It appears unique to Teamlink MacIntosh (V2.5) users connecting via TCP/IP. After the port goes into that state users are unable to connect to IOS. If the port connection disconnected then users are able to connect to IOS FC (once it can be determined which user). Or, the FCS has to stopped and restarted. We believe, it is probably because the MAC users are shutting down their systems, rather than exiting applications. Could this be a problem. We have suggested turning of mail notification when exiting Teamlinks, but customer really likes the capability to exit Teamlinks, open other applications and get notified of new mail. We have sent him the ALL-IN-1 Patches, ICF 31, 38, and 41 - and ordered the VAXCMAR04_062 patch for him. Is there anything we can check?

> Users experiencing problems logging into ALL-IN-1 after upgrading to > VMS V6.2. We haven't seen any reports of problems in this area. I'd suggest you pursue this in the ALL-IN-1 conference at IOSG::ALL-IN-1. > > Users are connecting to IOS File Cabinet via TeamLinks from MacIntosh. Please be more specific. Are users connecting via TeamLinks Mail or via TeamLinks File Cabinet access (set up in the Mac Chooser independently of the Mail application)? > If a MacIntosh is turned off and a user receives a mail message the > port that the MacIntosh was connected to goes in a FIN WAT state. > This problem only exists for TCP/IP connections. Users connected > over DECNET do not run into this. What software is serving up TCP/IP access on the server (UCX, TGV, etc.)? Maybe that software needs an upgrade. > It appears unique to Teamlink > MacIntosh (V2.5) users connecting via TCP/IP. I suppose you could try throwing one of the ECO releases at the problem to see if that fixes anything: V2.5.1, V2.5.2. Also, V2.6 is currently at the SSB. Some fixes were made to the notifier in V2.6 (but, again, we haven't seen the problem you've described in V2.5). > > After the port goes into that state users are unable to connect to > IOS. > If the port connection disconnected then users are able to connect to > IOS FC (once it can be determined which user). My system gets restarted in this way several times/day (not by choice :^). I haven't seen this problem. > > We have suggested turning of mail notification when exiting Teamlinks, > but customer really likes the capability to exit Teamlinks, open other > applications and get notified of new mail. > > We have sent him the ALL-IN-1 Patches, ICF 31, 38, and 41 - and > ordered > the VAXCMAR04_062 patch for him. Additional information from customer: Connecting via Teamlinks Mail (V2.5 - MAC) using the Teamlinks TCPack with TGV Multinet V3.3d. No patches are installed on the client. Anything else to check? Thanks, Jean | |||||

No ideas, other than go fishing in IOSG::ALL-IN-1 and with TGV, looking for clues. |
