Digital - Associative Computing licenses DECtalk

Associative Computing, Inc. (ACI) has licensed DIGITAL's DECtalk
text-to-speech technology for ACI's TextAssist and follow-on products. ACI
plans to integrate DECtalk with its natural language processing and artificial
intelligence technology to create intelligent agents that will understand
verbal commands and speak in kind. ACI will market its DECtalk-enabled
products in the retail and OEM markets.
TextAssist is a text-to-speech system that reads text aloud from any Windows
text-editing application. The product's nine pre-defined voices can be
fine-tuned or customized for specific applications. TextAssist also features
a built-in dictionary editor that allows users to customize the pronunciation
of any word.
ACI's TextAssist uses DECtalk for its basic speech synthesis functionality
and for its English language capabilities. For additional information,
