213.0. "Unsigned status bar warning inconsistant" by SNOFS1::MACHERR () Wed Feb 26 1997 19:49
I've had some success subclassing the Window class to create a popup
window and testing with the Microsoft IE 3.x browser popup window
appears OK, however when I run this using the Netscape Gold 3.01
browser
the warning string appears at the bottom of the popup window "Unsigned
Java Applet Window" in a status bar configuration and since this is a
floating windows really distracts from the applet GUI design.
Is there any way around this ??? and in any case why the apparent
difference between the 2 browsers. In this case I have to say that
Microsofts browser displays a better result
For example could the Window.java be altered ?, I haven't tried this
yet
but from a quick look there appears to be some methods associated with
the security manager which retrieve a warning string however this
string
does not read exactly the same as what actually appears.
Assumimg the answer to eliminate the status bar warning is to get a
certificate for the applet concerned is there any specific protocol
within Digital to follow to obtain one ?
