Hi! Our customer uses DECADMIRE for his application. He has tried to use CMS for code management, but this was to complicated and slow to use with CMS. Any hints for code management of DECADMIRE? - Kim PS. I am aware of note 605.2

Hi Kim, I'm afraid CMS is the only way I am aware of for the VT version... I'll check around with some of the folk but I'm almost 100% sure that is what they all use. The client/Server version can of course use Sourcesave..or indeed CMS client for Windows..which I know folk like and use. There is now getting around the fact that using any Code managemnet system will slow things down..Do you think they need a call or some help to see are they using it correctly/effciently rgs mick

Kim, Can you elaborate on where they see things slowing down? Using any code management tool will add CPU cycles to the overall develoment process when you reserve and replace code. That's because there's more involved than simply reading a text file from a disk. From my experience people have found CMS to be a very productive tool and can actually make things more efficient when multiple developers are involved. Dan

re. 1: Thanks for your reply, Mick. I'll come back to you, if the customer wants a call... re. 2: Thanks for your reply, Dan. Slow was a wrong word. What I ment was: It is troublesome/laborious () to reserve and replace the number of CMS elements which compose one DECADMIRE form/module. I'm glad to hear, that you found CMS to be a very productive tool (with DECADMIRE, I suppose)! - Kim |
