Is there another patch for the Hinotes ? The reason I ask is I was looking at a Western States Home Page and they listed a mobile.exe filw which has to do with the IRQ issues on the Hinotes/WIN95. The other patch I tried on some laptops was the AGP8w95A.exe which worked on some laptops but not others. Mike Turro

Sorry for the confusion on the mobile media patches. At first I was renaming patches before they were posted so they were more descriptive on what problem they addressed. Since then, patches are posted with their original name. Mobile.exe is AGP8w95A.exe. Descriptions can be found in the index file located in each subdirectory. If a newer patch is released which supersedes an existing version, the old version will be pulled. -Lee

LEE Has anyone in your part of the world installed the patche ie AGP8W95A.exe.. ? If so did it work in "all" instances ? I have installed it on about 10 Hinotes . I recollect it working on only 3 or 4 of them like it should. The rest never got the fixes as advertised ! Mike Turro Baltimore MCS

Mike, Just installing the patch works the majority of the time. If it fails to work, delete the mobile media module and ESS sound device from the device manager. Install the new AGP8W95A update driver and shut down the Hinote. Install the mobile media module and boot the system. Windows 95 will detect the new hardware and add the device back in with the new drivers. The new driver prevents the mobile media module from walking on the com ports, and forces the use of high consecutive IRQ's. -Lee |
