<---- We are currently doing real time reporting in Dallas, i.e.
calling in when on-site, doing lars via laptop or 800#, etc. This
precludes doing lars locally and uploading them at the end of the
day. Since this program will be declared a success and implemented
everywhere, there will be no future need for DARTCH. IMHO, of
    course.8^)

    Mike,
You are probably correct. I'd say that since most of the field does
not use Dart then it most likely has no future. Now if everyone used
it and declared it wonderful then it'd be different. I do use it here
every day and I've used it since it was released. As far as the telnet
capabilities for Keaterm I'd say that it could be done but I'm not
going to put any effort forward for it as I have been able to get the
local connection to work fine. I know that's no excuse for people who
don't have local dial ups but the credit card still is an option. The
credit card dial out feature does work on it and you can get into any
dec site with that. As for the .1 reply I'd say that he has some
inside info on where we're heading with Champ and it isn't with Dart.
I'd personally like to see some form of Dart on the new setup even if
it isn't used widely. I like the features of Dart and will use it till
it's dead. (only because I like those features BTW) If it'd help I
would be happy to show anybody the advantages of using Dart. That may
help convince someone that we need to keep it. Who knows, maybe I'd
become the Dart spokesperson ! (and get the package when it really
    died ! )

| | The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Twenty years ago, every time you left a site or had to
scratch your ass you had to call in. Thats what its coming
to now. They went to dart and champ auto call handling to
releive the work load on the local office people.
No that they have cut the feet on the street, obviously
that call in traffic has declined.

As time goes on, all the changes that have been made are all
being abandoned for earlier methods of doing business. Its
    hindsight and not foresight.

| 499.4 | Death to DART? NO way... | MAS::OREILLY |  | Tue Apr 08 1997 16:58 | 18 |
| | the real time reporting hit us up in the northeast
however it's only for T-times (DECservice onsite notifications
2hr, 4hr, 8hr action outages. I'm the only one in my office using
DART (for 3-4 yrs. happily) and am going to continue using it
secretly, of course, The t-times should not be an issue. I'm not
using Tel-net because it doesn't work. My megahertz 28.8 modem works
fine until they shut off lat access to Champ...

I too believe this "REAL Time" reporting will go away again.
However the best case for DART is to continue to use it and raise
any T-time flags, pro-actively call your DOC if/when approaching
    T-time flags...

    i'll keep you posted.

| 499.5 | Dart Forever !!! | ACISS2::BOOSINGER | The change in your pocket... | Thu Apr 17 1997 06:19 | 14 |
| | I like Steve M. and Mike T. will continue using DART til it (or I)
dies. Show me another way to "easily look up customer info, call info,
LARS info, engineer info, etc, etc etc...) and ALL TOTALLY OFFLINE...

Here's hoping and praying it NEVER DIES (as long as I'm in the field).

Being an old "FOCAL", I pushed DART as much as I could, but getting the
engineers to "use the tools" was such a pain. Amazing how people in
such a technical field could not se the benefit of such an important
    tool.
