1147.0. "Town of 14 names" by BPSOF::GYONGYOSI () Sat Jun 03 1995 13:03
(See also in 929.75)
The Slowak capital is wery close to the border crossing of Austria,
Hungary and Slowakia. The town belonged to different empires, countries
in it's history and all nations created their own name versions. E.g.
the Roman Empire called it "Poshonium" (maybe the spelling is false.),
the Hungarian name is Pozsony, while the Slowak one is Bratislawa.
A relocated/repatriated colleague coming from there told me that he was
tought that the town has alltogether 14 different names!
Can anybody help me collecting them?
BTW this may be a world record! Anybody knows a town of more names?
