1144.0. "Singulat or plural?" by BPSOF::GYONGYOSI () Thu Jun 01 1995 00:41

    Sorry Co-noters, I got another silly question (and even more to come...)

    I had a doubt while writing 1143.0, which version is right: "the result
    *was* 2 but a hundred synonyms" or "the result *were* 2 but a hundred
    synonyms"? Plural or singular form of the verb "be" should be used?

    It was only one result, so it takes the singular.
