949.0. "World's longest job title?" by WHELIN::CASHMAN () Thu Mar 12 1992 06:53
I thought readers of this notesfile might get a kick out of a news item
passed along to me. It was recently reported in the Albany, N.Y. paper
that the commander of the Watervliet Arsenal in Troy, N.Y. had gotten a
promotion, and that his new official title is (ta-daa!):
SENIOR MILITARY PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT DEPUTY UNDERSECRETARY OF DEFENSE
FOR LOGISTICS AND PROCUREMENT.
The organization chart conjured up by this title is just marvelous,
suggesting at least four hierarchical levels (secretary,
undersecretary, deputy undersecretary, assistant...), three levels of
specialization within that (some ADUSs are principals and some aren't;
some principal ADUSs are military and some are civilian; some ADUSs
deal with logistics and some deal with other specialties); and one
additional hierarchical level (SENIOR military...).
