| Isobestic and isobetic are variant spellings of isosbestic.
An isosbestic point is the wavelength at which the absorption of light
by a liquid remains constant as the acidity varies, or, more generally,
as the state of equilibrium between two interconvertible substances or
states shifts.
Geesh, it's a good thing my dad was an organic chemistry professor for
all those years, huh? It's also a good thing I've got the phone number
for the local public library, because I ain't at home with my chem texts right now.

| I am on the look-out for everyday ways to use these bio/medical terms:
synergy
symbiosis
morbidity
and my favorites:
T.I.A. - Transient Ischemic Attack -- "I, er, um, what was I saying?"
Lipodystrophy -- "So fat you can't even move"

| Here's a pretty everyday use of symbiosis. In one form, that is. At
least the concept is an everyday one where I work as a tech writer:
The relationship between an engineer and a technical writer can be
a symbiotic one - each can help the other produce a better product
and thereby benefit in return.
The next puzzle is what's the correct word for a thing that exists in
symbiosis with another thing? :-)

| Every year, a vote is held among member countries to choose which
microprocessor architecture is the best one for standardization.
The chosen device is then known as the ISO BEST IC.

| I often hear "synergy" and "symbiosis" used non-medically. They're
popular buzzwords in contempory criticism.
"Morbidity" is a favorite of mine as well. I named one of my tape
compilations "Morbid Lubricity".
