827.0. "fin de what?" by ESCROW::MUNZER () Tue Sep 18 1990 20:08

Can anyone please explain the proper usage of the phrase "fin de sicle"?

It evidently was applied to the end of the 19th Century, and I've heard it used
for the end of the 20th.

Thanks,
John

    It means "end of the century", and until recently was only used of
    the end of the 19th.
