| Well, most of the words are here, not necessarily in order...maybe it
will jog someone's memory.
Come hear the tale of our castaways
And of their fateful trip
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
On a three hours tour.
A THREE HOUR TOUR!
[FX: Lightning, thunder, driving rain]
The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
The Minnow would be lost...
The Minnow would be lost!
The ship set ground on the shore of this
Uncharted desert isle.
...
...
No lights! No phone! No motor boat!
Not a single luxury...
Like Robinson Crusoe,
As primitive as can be.
[where does this part go?]
With Gilligan,
The skipper too.
A millionaire, and his wife.
A movie star!
The professor and
Marianne...
Here on Gilligan's isle!
...
They're here for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things;
It's an uphill climb!
[And the closing theme was]:
So join us here each week, my friend
You're sure to get a smile
From seven stranded castaways
Here on Gilligan's Isle!

But the real question is:
Why on earth would anyone _want_ to know
the limericks to the Gilligan's Island Theme?

There was a young man who liked TECO
When he saw the question went freak-o
With limericks and lyrics
he switched in-betwix
but said I can fix that up with TECO!
Sorry Jim ...
Shame we can't use TECO with notes ain't it !

| [Opening Theme - Scene of Honolulu Harbor]
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard a tiny ship.
The 'Mate was a mighty sailin' man, [Gilligan loaded with gear]
The Skipper, brave and sure. [The Skipper showing Minnow's life ring]
Five passengers set sail that day [Minnow cruising out of harbor]
On a three hour tour.
A three hour tour...
[Thunder, Lightning, High Winds, Crashing Waves, Driving Rain]
The weather started getting rough.
The tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew [Gilligan and Skipper at helm]
The Minnow would be lost.
[Spinning Ship's Wheel]
The Minnow would be lost...
[Segue to Minnow on beach with hole in starboard bow seen from the air.]
The ship's aground on the shore of this
Uncharted desert isle,
With Gilligan, [fade to Bob Denver]
The Skipper, too. [fade to Alan Hale]
The Millonaire [fade to Jim Backus]
And his Wife. [fade to Natalie ?]
The Movie Star, [fade to Tina Louise]
The Professor and Marianne [fade to both actors whose names I forget - WL]
[the first season had "And the rest..." in place of "The Professor..." - WL]
Here on Gilligan's Isle!
[Closing Theme - Ground level view of Minnow's starboard side]
This is the tale of our castaways.
They're here for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things.
It's an uphill climb.
No phone, no lights, no motor cars!
Not a single luxury!
Like Robinson Crusoe,
It's primitive as can be.
So join us here each week my friends.
Your sure to get a smile.
From seven stranded castaways
Here on Gilligan's Isle!
[Fade out]
And yes this is all from memory and no I don't watch it now. For those who are
interested, the lyrics can be sung more or less to the tune of "Amazing Grace"
which conversely means that the lyrics of "Amazing Grace" can be sung more or
less to the tune of "Gilligan's Isle"!
Enjoy,
Wook

| I have also heard it sung to the tune of "Stairway to
Heaven"! :-)
I haven't actually checked there, but I would guess that
many old tv theme songs are in the trivia notes
conference.

A couple nits, which might be just my poor memory:
>The ship's aground on the shore of this
I thought it was "The ship set ground ...", which, now that I see it in print,
... hmmmm
>Like Robinson Crusoe,
Pronounced Ca-ru-soe, right?

| I just read the basenote and all of the replies.
While reading the lyrics, I could almost feel my mind melting.
Saw a great cartoon once. The caption read, "The world's dumbest guy,
and how he blew his cover."
He's standing at a bar with other patrons. The TV is on (presumably
tuned to "Gilligan's Island"). The world's dumbest guy asks,
"Which one's Gilligan?"
