383.0. "The Big Apple" by MARVIN::KNOWLES (Pour encourager les auteurs) Wed Jul 15 1987 08:53
Is there another note somewhere about this? If so, could someone
point me to it? If not, could someone explain the derivation of
the Big Apple in the sense of 'New York' (if that's what it means).
I know that a city block in Madrid is called una manzana ('an apple')
and maybe this is a general meaning in Spanish; I think it is. But
is there any connection?
