254.1 | I wish I knew more words | ATFAB::REDDEN | Seeking the Lost Illusion | Thu Oct 02 1986 10:17 | 6 |
| I {like/prefer} to use braces to compensate for my limited
vocabulary. If I can thing of {two/several} words that are
close, but not {quite/exactly} precise, I will put them in
braces with slashes between them. This usually aggravates
the folks around me enough that they will suggest a single
word that would have communicated what they thought I meant.

| Simple. Angle brackets are used for <TOPS20> directory names.
Curly braces are used for {HPA1500} LNF commands. Not to mention
programs written in C.
They're really just there for hackers, right?

254.4 | A point of confusion | SSDEVO::GOLDSTEIN | | Thu Oct 02 1986 20:46 | 5 |
| Parenthetical remarks, which are introduced by the pronoun "which,"
needn't always be placed within parentheses; they are properly set
within commas.
