OK, Roy - what do we do: laugh with you, at you, or just pity you?

| I guess it would have been better to tie this one into 216 after
all. The intent was to relate the two usages of the word "funny"
to the similar situation relative to the word "anxious".
I'm sure there are many more words which fit into this same category,
and it is just one of those factors which emphasize the need for
extra care when attempting to communicate with others.

| Anxiety is the reason Steve Martin (& his banjo) were so funny.
Laughter is the friction between 'YES' and 'NO'.

217.5 | laugh more in conferences ? | SIERRA::OSMAN | and silos to fill before I feep, and silos to fill before I feep | Thu Jul 17 1986 10:48 | 10 |
| Actually, laughter is what is often missing from these newfangled
electronic conferences.
When I'm in a group of real people, sometimes the humor of a comment
comes very much from the surrounding laughter.
With electronic conferences, there's no one for me to hear laughter
from, except occasionally myself.
