1473.0. "Brit Milah on Yom Kippur?" by CADSYS::GROSS (The bug stops here) Fri Sep 08 1995 20:42

I was told by someone that if the date for a bris (circumcision
ceremony) falls on Yom Kippur, the participants are permitted
(required?) to eat. I know that a simcha (joyeous occasion) cancels
most Jewish fasts, but is the fast for Y.K. one of these? I guess
the cooking for such an event would be done the day before.

Nope. The participants aren't allowed to eat. I do know that during
Sefirat HaOmer the Father and the Sandak (Godfather) are allowed to
shave. Also in the back of my mind there is something about Tishah BeAv
which is postponed to Sunday and the circumcision falls on that date
with regard to some leniency - but I could be wrong.
The baby (of course) gets to drink the wine.
