1329.0. "Israeli Branch Davidian?" by NOTIME::SACKS (Gerald Sacks ZKO2-3/N30 DTN:381-2085) Wed Apr 21 1993 17:02

I noticed that there was an Israeli listed among those who are presumed to
have died in the Branch Davidian conflagration in Waco. Has this aspect
been covered in the Israeli press? What's the story behind it?

Gerald - The Israeli media covered the fact that an Israeli is presumed to have
died in the conflagration. His name was Pablo Cohen and his mother Shulamit Cohen
has been interviewed extensively on all the media.

From Wednesday's Ha-aretz
Pablo Cohen went to America 2.5 years ago. "He wanted, like everyone else, to see
the world", said his mother. Cohen who studied music and played guitar, piano and
flute, and wrote music for the band called Avraham Avinu [Forefather Abraham],
which performed at the Jerusalem Khan.

After half a year in America he returned, celebrated Pesach Seder with his
family, and returned to America. His mother relates that David Koresh, who was
visiting Israel, asked him to join his group. "They told him, come with us and
we'll make music. He went and worked there, while all the time keeping in
contact by telephone and mail", he mother said.
