The "Frontline" program aired on Sunday Night (1-31-93) on WGBH in Boston is another in a what I believe to be anti-semetic/ anti-Israel propaganda. For over an hour I sat and watched how the Arabs in the Gaza strip, east Jerusalem, and several villages located in Samaria and Judea were systematically being economically and socially destroyed by the Israeli governments contrived evil plans. The "reporter's use of words and the manner which the film clips were cut and pasted together depict the Palestinians simply as pure good, and the Israeli's as evil. I cannot recall much if any reference at all to the Intifada, Hamas, the PLO, or Fatah organizations which have long histories of violence. Inversely, all the Arabs intervewed were all soft spoken, well dressed and groomed and wore bright western style clothes. Each when "interviewed", never raised their voice, but spoke calmly of treachery by the Israeli government in terms of it's prejudices toward the Arabs rights to simply exist in peace. I am not stating that the Israeli Government has never made an error, or that it's administration of all it's land is perfect. What I am stating, is that the "Frontline" episode tried and convicted the Israeli Government and its people in the media by presenting a one sided picture of what is happening. If you saw this "program", and did not care for it as I did, you can call WGBH at (617) 876-WGBH Ron

I missed most of the Frontline program, but it's correct that Israel is systematically doing in the Palestinian economy. Tactics include forbidding or severely restricting industries which compete with Israeli industries, interfering with agricultural exports to Europe (either preventing them entirely or keeping perishable crops held up in ports for so long that they spoil, etc.), severely restricting water use on Palestinian farms compared to Israeli settler farms, imposing curfews on villages so that crops can't be harvested until they rot, etc. At the same time, it is bleeding the Palestinians thru taxes that greatly exceed any services rendered. For example, it made a profit of $25 million on Gaza (the mind boggles) in the last year for which I have figures. There are references for this in a paper I did for a Stanford class awhile back; paper available on request.

RE: 1304.1 Thank you for sharing your kind offer to supply me with a paper you have written on the subject of systematic persecution of the Palestinians, but I will have to pass. Perhaps the individuals from Chicago with $650K who recently visited Israel might enjoy your paper, as they share your perspective.

Before asking for the paper in .1, I would like to ask for a book that Ms. Kolling promised to share with us and the whole usenet: "The Fatherest Mosque". Is it available at last? Details on request. Leo |
