1281.0. "Hanukkah teaching aids for Pre-schoolers" by AWARD::COHEN (CELTIC PRIDE) Mon Nov 23 1992 05:06

My girfriend teaches pre-school and is looking for new/different
teaching material for 3-4 year-olds on the subject of Hanukkah. I did a
search in this conference but did not find any relevant information. Could
anyone recommend anything? Games? Books? A particular store that carries
a good variety of Jewish-related items in the Southern NH, Northern MA area
that might have some relevant material? Some home-made things??? Any help
would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Your girlfriend's best source of stuff is the Israel bookshop on
    Harvard St. in Brookline, MA.

Failing that, most area synagogues are havins special gift shop hours
    this time of year.

I saw some nifty templates for painting Chanuka designs. She could
    make her own.

The Israel Bookshop is much easier to get to than you might think also.
My husband & I have driven into Brookline a couple of times now to go
there. We were a bit nervous the first time, being from Southern New
Hampshire, & usually going into Boston by subway (Alewife), but its
pretty straightforward and easy. There is a small parking lot behind the
bookshop with meters where you can usually find a slot to park in, and
the meters aren't too expensive. And their selection of children's stuff,
and special holiday stuff is very good.

Thanks!!! I have a real good starting point now...

P.S. Leslie, you may or may not remember me from my days at DDD working
in OMS under Mike Duhaime, but I remember you. Just wanted to say
an extra hello! Hopefully, I'll be able to make the trip to the Israel
     Bookshop soon! Take care :-)

If you go on Sundays the parking is free in that lot. Though you might want
to go after 1PM to avoid the morning rush of grocery shoppers (the kosher
markets close ~1PM).
