1252.0. "Jewish Day Care Near Acton?" by TRETOP::SAMILJAN () Fri Jul 24 1992 00:09

    Anyone have info on Jewish day care in the Acton area? My wife
    and I are moving to Acton from Swampscott. We've been very happy
    with the Infant/Toddler Program at the JCC in Marblehead, and we'd
    really like a similar situation.

    Do any of the temples in the area have day care programs? I'd
    be interested in some feedback.

    If you're not aware of any Jewish day care situations, how about
    any other recommendations? Our son will be two years old in August,
    and we're expecting at the end of August.

    Any help, guidance, information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bud

    I recommend that you cross-post in the PARENTING notes file, on node
    NOTED. There is a dedicated topic in the low number range. All
    replies must be by mail.

    Yeah, I wish there were more Jewish daycare around. With all the
    2-parent working families, it would be much appreciated. Sigh,,,

1252.2Welcome to ActonCARTUN::BERGARTJeff-the-refMon Aug 03 1992 19:4013
    Welcome to the neighborhood. We've lived in Acton for 15 years. We
    found that the Serendipity Day Care Center was SUPER for our two kids.
    The staff is excellent and tends to stay from year to year.

    If you, or your wife want more info on the area (or about Temple Beth
    Elohim in Acton), feel free to give my wife, Marlene, or me a call.

    P.S. Our Temple doesn't have day care, but they do have a Sunday
    School Program for youngsters (i.e. pre-hebrew school). There are TONS
    of kids in the Hebrew School at Beth Elohim!

    Bud,

    I concur with the previous recommendation regarding Serendipity in
    Acton. We also sent two children there with great results.

    The Temple in Concord (Kerem Shalom) also offers a Sunday program for
    younger children. It is another option for Actonites. Both Temples
    are good, but have decidedly different philosphical foundations: Beth
    Elohim tends to the Conservative, Kerem Shalom looks more like a
    Reconstructionist Temple, although both are unaffiliated I believe.

    I make the same offer as Jeff in -.1 Give me a call at home 263-2236
    for more information.

1252.4Jewish Daycare in Acton DOES exist!ICS::WAKYOnward, thru the Fog...Fri Dec 18 1992 23:0714
Just catching up on some back notes...

I have my 19 month old in family daycare with a Jewish family and find it's
absolutely wonderful (in Acton). I believe it is full up right now, but my
daycare provider may know of others in the business. Send me mail if you'd
like me to connect you with her.

It DOES make a difference to me, even though my daughter is so young - it's so
nice to go pick her up and see them all sitting around reading stories about
the Maccabees or spinning dreidels, rather than the visual of her being with
Christmas traditions all day long.
