Someone just brought me an 8 oz. jar of Folgers Coffee Crystals (red label). On the last jar that I had just used up I noticed that it contained an "OUp", which normally designates Kosher For Passover. The jar that I just received contains only an "OU". In the past (many years ago) the OU would sanction almost all instant coffees for Passover and did not have a special "OUp" for them. Could someone please do me a favor and call up the OU (I believe there is an 800 number) and ask specifically regarding this particular coffee whether it can be used for Passover ONLY if it has the "OUp" or whether it can be used for Passover even without the special "OUp" (i.e. just a plain "OU"). Thanks, Cb.

They said it could be used even without the "P." Decaffeinated, however can't be used. Jem

Interesting. I picked up a 4 oz. jar a couple of weeks ago and it has the OUp on it.

Apparently, some decaffeination processes use a chametz or kitniyos substance. If you got a jar with an OUP on it, it must have been done with a different process.
