   The Kinneret is about .5-1 meter away from it's high water mark.
   They are letting as much as possible flow through the locks
   towards the Dead Sea.
   It's snowing now in Jerusalem. There's around 5-12 inches in our
   neighborhood. The Tel-Aviv-Jerusalem road is closed and the
   police have asked people to stay off the roads within the city as
   well.
1175.2some weather pattern?CADSYS::HECTOR::RICHARDSONTue Feb 25 1992 19:497
    I think Jerusalem may have gotten more snow this winter than Boston,
    Mass., has gotten - odd weather! I suppose the whole global weather
    pattern is influenced by the el nino, which is really strong this year.
    It is to be hoped that this puts an end to the drought so that water
    rights are a smaller part of the mideast peace negotations.

1175.3Latest Weather ReportTAVIS::JONATHANWed Feb 26 1992 15:5413
    Last I heard, the Kinneret was only 35 cm (about 14 inches) from its
    maximum level of -208.90 metres.

    Warnings have been issued to people in Tiberias and surrounding areas
    that serious flooding is imminent. The lake continues to rise about
    1 cm every two hours.

    There was heavy snow again last night (Tuesday evening) in the
    Jerusalem area, and where I live in Efrat in Gush Etzion between
    Betlehem and Hebron, the snow must be 40-50 cm high. Day temperature
    around here is about -3 Centigrade.

    Talk about too much of a good thing....
1175.4An end to seedingTAV02::ARTHURLampert, Israel Software SupportWed Feb 26 1992 17:245
I heard on the radio that they are going to stop seeding
the clouds.

Although why they should let all that good water cross
the border...

    Is it true that wild flowers are starting to blossom in the desert,
    because of all the snow/moisture from this winter?

    The Negev always has some beautiful flora as a result of
    the wet season. I expect that there's a bit more than usual
    this year.

    	I saw the normally bone-dry Judean Desert literally covered with
    grass and flowers in mid-March. The people we were with - said they
    have never seen a greening like this. Much of the desert looked like
    a large, hilly lawn with some red, yellow and blue spots all over.

I've driven through both the Negev and Judaean deserts recently, and there's a
*lot* more than usual this year!

re: last few

Since there is no possibility of my actually visiting the desert during
this bloom, I'm wondering if anyone has taken some pictures that I might
be able to look at?
