1162.0. "CJ-L : New mailing list on Conservative Judaism" by GOOEY::GVRIEL::SCHOELLER (Schoeller - Failed Xperiment) Fri Jan 24 1992 15:45

The following reply is the announcement for a new listserve mailing list on
Convservative Judaism and the Conservative approach to Halacha. I will not
be posting a running archive of this list, as I do with mail.jewish. It is
far too busy.

L'hit,

 Conservative Judaism

 ----------------------------Original message----------------------------

There's a new mailing list that may be of interest to some readers
 here.

It's called Conservative Judaism, and is devoted to discussion of
Judaism from a Conservative point of view. The foci will be on
Conservative interpretation of halacha and on issues related to
religious education. This is to be a polite forum, with no O/C/R
 flames.

To subscribe, send mail to [email protected] with no subject
 line and with the message

 subscribe cj-l <your full name>

All administrative details are handled through the listserv address
above, while postings are sent to [email protected]. Only
members may post, so take care in choosing the account from which you
 subscribe.

P.S. The inspiration for this list comes from Steve Feinstein.

For those unfamiliar with external mailing lists, you should send to:

DECWRL::"[email protected]"

Pay attention to capitalization of the destination. You may need to use NMAIL
to get out through DECWRL. To do this try putting NM% before DECWRL. If NMAIL
is installed you are all set. If not, mail will tell you it couldn't find
some shareable image.

If you are on a cluster multiple boot nodes, NMAIL and no cluster alias, you may
have some problems posting notes to the list server. As a members only list,
it requires you to send from the same address as you used for your registration.
Since NMAIL could send through any of the boot nodes, your mail may be rejected.
