I have Ultrix/Unix code that will do most of those tricks.

| I have some portable code that will do some of it. I can get sunrise and sunset
(astronomical and observed) for the locations. It will tell you the date
conversion (including time of day corrections when checkin the jewish date for
the current time). I never added the specific timings. I have source and
some insight into the programming since I did the merge of hcal and planets
to get it to work.

I had it run successfully run under VMS. If you want the sources please

Monty: Do I have to come this far to find you have what I am looking for?
A customer of mine, (the 2nd largest "petrol" company in Israel) is looking
for some code that would permit them to place the Jewish holydays against the
Gregorian calendar, in order to serve their Human Resources Systems.
Please froward it to me.

1106.5 | HCAL from the TOOLSHED | ELWOOD::BITNER | Haim Bitner | Sat Oct 05 1991 01:20 | 10 |

I am using the programs HCAL and HDATE.
I got it from the TOOLSHED. It works very nice. Comes with the
algorithm and with C source code.

1106.6 | Me too, but it is missing two features | DECSIM::HAMAN::GROSS | The bug stops here | Mon Oct 07 1991 15:44 | 9 |
| I have taken the C sources from the toolshed and converted
the algorithms to Apple-II Basic. And, yes, it works great.
But it doesn't provide candle-lighting times (or other times
such as begining/ending of fasts) and it doesn't give the
weekly Torah readings. These are available for IBM-compatibles.
I'd love to see the sources so we could have DEC and Apple
versions too.

| I added sunrise/sunset times to hcal, but haven't distributed it because
there are some problems (you need to know latitude, longitude, and the
current timezone offset, and I couldn't figure out how to handle daylight
savings time). Also, I wasn't certain about the Jewish calendar definition
of "sunrise" or "sunset" (there are three definitions: civil, navigational,
and astronomical).
Contact me directly if you'd like the code.
Martin.
ps: I got the code off of Usenet, so it's public domain as far as I'm
concerned.
