| Le shana tova to you too. And I suggest that those of us with caffeine habits
(like me) should begin to taper off to avoid a bad caffeine-withdrawal
headache on Yom Kippur.

| Shana Tova to every bagler out there from a formerly active bagler (but still
observing the conference once in a while).

| As we say over the apples and honey:
Yehi Ratzon ...Shetechdesh Aleinu Shana Tova umetuka.
May it be G-d's will to grant us a happy, sweet year.
p.s. May I take this oppurtunity to announce my leaving (voluntarily) DEC.
My last day here, IY"H, will erev Yom Kippur, Sept 17.
p.p.s re coffee: I tried this before tisha b'av: I'd not had any coffee for
about a week before, but for seuda shishit (the fast was on a sunday) i had
about 4 or 5 cups of iced coffee. No headaches during the fast.

1100.5 | Best wishes and some thoughts on fasting | SAINT::STCLAIR | | Thu Sep 05 1991 22:40 | 12 |

With best wishes for all of you who will be fasting let me share
something I learned. I had to fast for 14 days (a little juice and
mostly clear liguids). I had been avoiding flour, dairy products,
cafine and sugar before I started this fast. Much to my surprise I did
not experience the hunger I have felt in fasting in the past. I had
lowered my blood sugar by getting rid of sugar and carbohydrates before
it started the fast was really not bad at all.
The first thing I had when I broke the fast was a donut. What a rush!
