1095.0. "Mohel Needed" by TALLIS::OXENBERG () Wed Aug 07 1991 17:09

My wife and I are expecting a child in a couple weeks. In the
event it is a boy, we'd like to have a bris for him. We live in
Newton, MA. Any recommendations for a mohel?
Thanks.

I've attended brisses performed by two Boston area mohels, and would recommend
either one. They're Rabbi Shimon Miara and Rabbi Naftali Horowitz. They're
probably listed in the Boston phone book. If not, I can get you their numbers.

I recommend the mohel who performed my son's brit, Cantor Sam Pessaroff of
Peabody, telephone (508)532-6068. (Great name for a mohel, too!)

  Mazel tov, Phil!

When my son was born, we had the bris performed at home (in Marlboro) by Dr.
Benjamin Gaynor. However, that was nearly twenty-one years ago and I doubt that
he is still practicing. His phone number at the time was (617 or 508?) 877-4600.

Dr. Gaynor is definitely retired. He did a double bris for my twins
11 1/2 years ago. The guy had chutzpah too. When he learned I work for DEC
he raised his fee 2X and told me to collect from John Hancock.

I've had 2 sons, 2 different mohels. Of the two, I'd recommend Rabbi Shimon
Siegel (in Lowell) first. Not only does he do a good job at the bris itself,
he also does a very thorough job, from preparing the parents and baby in
advance of the event to following through long after the event until the
baby is healed.

I have his number, if you are interested.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Benjamin Jared was born a week
ago yesterday. Everyone is fine (although some of us are a bit
tired).

The Bris was yesterday. The Mohel we used was Barbara Bassil
(a urologist as well). I'd use her again if we had another son.
