I forwarded the original note to the Ramat Gan municipality, and this is
the reply I have received.

==========================================================================
Dear Friend,
Late in the night of February 8, a ballistic Scud missile hit the city of
Ramat Gan. This missile, like the three others before it, landed in this
densely populated area in central Israel.
The people affected by this ongoing tragedy brought about by the heinous,
unprovoked attacks by Iraq are by and large the elderly and families with
children. They have suffered material damage or have lost their homes and all
their worldly possessions, not to mention the physical injuries and
psychological trauma sustained.
The Mayor of Ramat Gan, Mr. Zvi Bar, took it upon himself to rehabilitate the
areas hit. Families evacuated to hotels, many of whom lost everything, must be
provided for. To date, the cumulative statistics for the four missile attacks
on Ramat Gan are:
* Casualties: 1 dead, 110 injured, 730 evacuated to hotels
* Property Damage: 6% of all homes in Ramat Gan damaged or destroyed.
Of these:
* 26 buildings completely destroyed
* 2600 apartments damaged, 270 of which need major reconstruction
* The assessment of funds needed by Ramat Gan for assistance and
rehabilitation, over and above aid provided by the Government, stands
at US$ 6 million.
We are appealing to you to open your heart to us in our time of need. The burden
is too great for the Municipality of Ramat Gan to bear alone. We also ask you
to spread the word among family. friends and associates.
We can do the job - with your help. Your support is our strength.
Our many thanks,
Zvi Bar
Mayor of Ramat Gan
