| there are some "lesser" things that you/we can do:
- if you are supportive of the war, join the pro-war demonstrations
- write letters of support to the forces in the middle east(even if you
are against the war, hopefully you would be FOR the soldiers coming
home safely)
- raise awareness of the issues by talking about them to your friends
and acquaintances
- write messages of support in notesfiles and emails

| Some additional things:
1. "Super Sunday" (the annual fund-raising phonathon held by
Federations [UJA] across the US) is Feb 9 - volunteer to help
at the phoning site or don't hang up when they call, GIVE!
2. The local Federations are swamped, trying to organize support,
raise funds, etc. Offer to volunteer your time, services and
skills.
3. Attend and support any public rallys - let them see the numbers
who are supporting! Publicize, in the local notes files and
with posters in the office what is happening in your area.

| Now more than ever we need to pray for Israel. Also, now more
than ever we need to contribute to "Operation Exodus". There
are two things landing in Israel now immigrants and missiles.
Upon arrival the immigrants are given a flower and a gas mask.
Please be generous in support of our brothers and sisters
and beautiful Israel.
Thank you,
Bernice

| CORRECTION TO .2 - SUPER SUNDAY IS FEB. 3
We had a turnout of over 2,000 at the rally tonight in Livingston, NJ.
Considering that the rally was only announced, in the MetroWest Jewish
News and by a mailing (and the New Jersey NOTESfile), on Tuesday (2
days ago) that was fabulous. We told one reporter that if we had a
weeks notice, we could have filled Giant Stadium!
Media coverage was 3 tv stations, numerous radio stations and
newspapers. Front page article in tomorrows Newark Star Ledger.
Initial counts indicate that tonight there was an additional $500,000
pledged to Operation Exodus and over $1,500,000 in previous pledges
were accelerated - to be paid immediately, rather than over the next
two years!
The Israeli Ambassador to the UN - Mr. Avidor - was the key speaker and
was magnificent. A quotable quote, for example - he said "that many
considered Israel an underdog. Israel is not an underdog, Israel is a
restrained lion."
I was proud to participate!

1034.7 | On the positive side | PULMAN::CASP::SEIDMAN | Aaron Seidman | Mon Jan 28 1991 16:32 | 12 |
| The Israeli Consulate in Boston reported yesterday that it is being
inundated by offers to volunteer for service in Israel. Some of these
are, as might be expected, by Israelis resident in the U.S. who are
inquiring whether they are needed at home. Another large contingent
are Jews from all over New England (including, I happen to know,
members of our Havurah) who want to express their solidarity with
Israel. There is also a sizeable group--and this was a pleasant
surprise--of non-Jews who wanted to volunteer to help.
Thought you'd like to hear about it.
