1030.1 | Me, too; me, too! | SWAM2::GOLDMAN_MA | Life is an art form; be creative! | Wed Jan 23 1991 07:09 | 16 |
| Good for you, Gail! Wish I'd thought of it, but I'll settle for riding
on your coattails...
I, too, will make calls or send messages, whatever works. Reach me at
SWAM2::GOLDMAN_MA, or if the gateways give you trouble, try it as
CAPO::GOLDMAN_MA.
My prayers are with all of you in Israel, with our soldiers in the Gulf
(a number of whom are personal friends...) and with all of the other
innocents being battered by this war.
If there are other things that I could do to help my fellow DECies (and
their friends/family/neighbors, too -- I'll make calls for any Israeli,
if I can!) please let me know that, too...
Marla Goldman, Costa Mesa, Calif.

1030.21 | I hope you understand what I'm trying to say | RTOIC::WERBUNG | | Tue Jan 29 1991 16:58 | 22 |
| Calling all people in Israel:
I would like to express my feelings for those people in Israel and I
hope, since I'm here in Germany, that you guys are not upset, because
of everything that is heard in the news about Germany at the moment.
With this note, I really wanted you to know, that everybody I know and
everybody I could ever think of here in Germany is really thinking
about all the problems that you guys down there might have (hopefully
not) The people that were demonstrating against the war were sure also
not the ones, who wouldn't take Israels side, but were only scared of
all the consequences that the war would cause, a lot of them were kids,
who might not have been aware of the strategic and political situation
in Gulf region.
On behalf of all my friends, I would like you to know, that we hope,
that our governement's help will be very efficient and helpful for you,
and that we are all pleased, that help was offered and accepted.
And we know, that it should have been offered a lot earlier, but the
majority of us sure had no influence on this decision.
We wish you and everybody out there a happy end and peace
Shalom from Pia

1030.22 | Comparing costs | SQGUK::LEVY | The Bloodhound | Wed Jan 30 1991 17:08 | 14 |
| I'm interested to know what it costs Israel to protect her population
from German supplied weapons and technology that were supplied to Iraq.
I'd also interested to know much aid Germany has offered Israel and how
this compares to the above cost.
I understand that scud missiles would not be able to reach Israel without
the technical assistance of German companys, and that the chemical and
biological weapons were developed with the assistance of German companys too.
Of course, measuring the traumatic costs on the whole of the population
is very difficult.

| re: .22
It is my understanding that as far as extending the range of the
missiles the technology was from France, which is also where Iraq got
the Exocet missiles.
