987.0. "New York City, Here I come ....." by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Mon Oct 22 1990 18:19

If there are any New York Bagelers out there, I'd appreciate recommendations
for Kosher restaraunts. It's been a long time since I've been in N.Y.C. for any
length of time, and I'm a little out of touch with the eating establishments.
BTW, I favor Italian style food.

Thanks,

Cb.

P.S. If there are any Bagelers who'd like to get together during the week of
     Nov. 26-30, I'm game.

There's an Italian restaurant called "Primavera" in Flatbush. It's supposed
to be excellent, but I haven't been there myself.

    Primavera is not so great.

I don't know of any decent Italian restaurants in NYC, but the best
deli is still Schmulke Bernstein's on Essex near Delancy.

For fish, try Ossie's Table in Boro Park (50th St. off 13th Avenue); take
the B train to 50th St.

Variations (formerly Edible Pursuits) is a very good dairy restaurant
on 5th Avenue (near 34th Street?)

The best deli I have ever eaten at was Carnegies in NYC. The
sandwiches they serve there are monstrous and delicious!! The
cheesecake is out of this world! No other cheesecake compares! They
are at 854 Seventh Avenue at 55th Street.

    Enjoy

Since .0 asks about *kosher* restaurants, Carnegie Deli is obviously out.

You are right, but I figured I would put in my 2 cents.

It's been a long time, but two Kosher restaurants that I used to enjoy
    were:

Ratner's on Delancey Street - Dairy Food Only

Moshe Peking around 46th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues - Kosher
Chinese. If they still have it, try their "Phonee Shrimp in Mok
    Lobster Sauce" :-)

    Enjoy.

re .7:

Moshe Peking (shouldn't it now be Moshe Bejing?) is on 36th st.

There is a good deli on Broadway between 38th and 39th called (originally
enough) Mr. Broadways. They have very nice sandwiches and hamburgers, as well
as some good, but very spicy, Mid-Eastern fare. Its right across the street
form the world's most expensive pizza store, Jerusalem II.

987.9Beware of Senior MosheTAVENG::GOLDMANFri Nov 09 1990 01:245
Moshe Peking now has an additional menu called Senior Moshe which,
similar to some places in LA, now offer Mexican food along with
their traditional Chinese menu. There were five of us for dinner
and the maitre'd gave us a convincing shpiel to try the Mexican. We
all did and were very sorry!!
