972.0. "L'hitraot" by PEPPR::REISS (Fern Alyza Reiss) Thu Aug 23 1990 01:55
Well, it has been really a pleasure to be part of this conference
and "meet" so many of you!
Jonathan and I will soon be leaving on our dream trip: an ultra-low-budget
journey around the world! If anyone has friends whom you wouldn't mind having
us look up, we'd love to get their names. After our trip we'll be settling
in Israel for two years, so would be happy to return the hospitality over
there. Our current itinerary is Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Botswana,
India, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Bali, China,
Japan, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. (Phew!)
You can reach me on PEPPR until Labor Day; or until mid-October, at
LUGGER::HARRIS, or via snail mail at 1200 Mass Ave #34E,
Cambridge, MA 02138. We'd also be interested in hearing about any
interesting Jewish communities on our route.
Thanks! It's been fun!
/Fern
P.S. Send mail to our Cambridge address if you'd like to come visit us
in Israel; all guests welcome!

972.2 | regards | TAVENG::GOLDMAN | | Tue Dec 17 1991 11:16 | 3 |
| I happened to meet Jonathan and Fern last week in shul in Hong Kong.
They are having a great time and asked me to convey their best regards
to all BAGLER's.

972.3 | Hope you said hello! | CADSYS::HECTOR::RICHARDSON | | Tue Dec 17 1991 19:11 | 5 |
| That's great! I hope you said hello to them for all of us?
Were they at Ohel Leah or the new schul in Kowloon?

For sure!
> Were they at Ohel Leah or the new schul in Kowloon?
Chabad in the Hilton. BTW there is no shul in Kowloon. There
is a four month old break-away from Ohel Leah but it's on the
Hong Kong side. The only thing in Kowloon is a sometimes minyan
in the Regent Hotel.

972.5 | I never found it either... | CADSYS::HECTOR::RICHARDSON | | Wed Dec 18 1991 18:56 | 9 |
| Well, someone had given me the address of one that was supposed to be
someplace near the big mosque on the edge of the park with the aviary -
never did find it, however! Ohel Leah, however, is an interesting work
of Sephardic architecture - I think the original membership were mostly
Iraqi Jews who were merchants. I was in Hong Kong 4 1/2 years ago, but
only for a few days - it's a real interesting place. I hope Fern, who
used to work around the corner here, is having a fascinating time!
