Subject: Arafat: "Open fire" on Jewish immigrants
Tel Aviv- The Lebanese weekly Al-Muharar reprinted by Ma'ariv, quotes
PLO Chairman Yasi Arafat at a meeting in Baghdad with senior Fatah officers
as ordering his men to "open fire" on Jewish immigrants to Israel.
According to the Lebanese report, Arafat said "I want to say clearly: Open
fire on the new Jewish immigrants, on the ground or in the air, at every
immigrant who thinks our land is a playground and that immigration to it
is a holiday or a picnic...use violence against the immigrants. I will jail
[excuse me? - ep] whoever refuses to do this".
Arafat, in Sanaa, North Yemen, last week called the Soviet Aliya more
threatening than the creation of Israel- "The Jewish immigration is a more
dangerous conspiracy [excuse me? - ep] than those of 1947 and 1948". The
PLO leader urged Arab states to respond "with effective measures [euphemism
for what ? - ep] and not mere resolutions".
