| My family and I attended the concert mentioned in .0 and thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves.
The Nisht Geferlach (loosely translated from the Yiddish = "Not
So Bad") Klezmer Band is a very talented five person band from
Plainfield, VT which plays primarily in Northern New England (Vermont,
New Hampshire, Maine). They play traditional pieces and some of their own
composition. The band leader, Avram Patt, doubles as the emcee and
vocalist when not playing the drums. The music is such you really
cannot just sit and listen. You either end up clapping your hands,
stomping your feet, or dancing (and I'm no dancer).
They claim to be the only Klezmer Band that has:
1. Played at a Knights of Columbus Hall (Burlington, VT)
2. Played at a Governor's Inaugural Ball (Madeline Kunin)
3. Played at a clambake! :) :) :)
The hall at Temple Adath Yeshurun in Manchester was packed and a
very nice dessert was served during the break. The concert was
underwritten by the Andrew Cohen Musical Fund.
All in all, it was a great way to spend a cold winter afternoon.
The band was great, the people were very hospitable, and we had
a good time (my whole family ended up dancing).
I'm on their mailing list so I'll keep you posted about upcoming
concerts. I also bought one of their cassettes so if anyone is
interested in hearing their music, let me know ("Sha Shtil" is one
of my favorites).
