771.0. "HELP-to find Hypnotist from Brookline" by THEBUS::KOWAL () Thu Sep 14 1989 15:44

I once saw a story on a local (Mass.) Evening Magazine-type show
about a hypnotist in Brookline who is *remarkably* successful with
    habit control problems, especially smoking.

This hypnotist does not advertise and is strictly word-of-mouth.
His clients travel from around the world to see him and he has a
waiting list. He spoke with a Russian or Eastern European accent.

Does anyone know of this hypnotist? What is his name, phone number?
    Any leads would help.

    Thanks!

He is not really a hypnotist, he calls himself a bioenergetic
consultant. Anyway his name is Yefim Shubentsov #617-232-3930.
Don't get discouraged if you can't get thru, you will eventually.

I don't know about the "Russian", however, my brother-in-law just
went to a hypnotist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, MA
and has had remarkable results. He smoked about 4-5 packs a day
and after the first week he was down to about 5 cigarettes a day.

The hypnotist was someone named Barry Beder and the fee, which is
about $100. My brother-in-law said the he was told that he should
not be discouraged if he didn't stop at once, but that Mr. Beder's
organization would work with him until he stopped.

    Good luck!

Re: Barry Beder. I stopped smoking in his program sponsored by Digital
when the smoking policy went into effect. I never thought it would work
and it will be a year on Oct 4th...Write me if you'd like more details.
