Although I had not heard of this particular incident, my only response
has to be, "Give me a break!" I can't believe this kind of baloney
is still being given any kind of serious consideration by any
responsible person. Winfrey should have squashed it immediately.
I wonder what the audience reaction was? Like, "Huh?" or whatever.

Not to dump on Oprah but.....was her lack of a response connected
in any way with the continuing general deterioration of black-Jewish
    relations?

    Thanks.

| | I did not see that show--- but this is what I was told be a rather
knowledgable employee who was home that day.

There was an Oprah show last month that had "cult" people on it. This
happened after the news about the drug running human sacrificers in
Mexico news. One of the people said she was Jewish and that her family
practiced child sacrifice...as did many other Jewish families. This
person also stated that no one could tell that they did this. It was a
secret Jewish ritual...or something to that effect. Oprah let this go
for for a while then said that this didn't happen among the Jews she
knew. This statement was not considered strong enough of a disclaimer.

Of course, some "Jewish leaders" met with Oprah's producer soon
after the program and it turns out she had never heard of the "blood
libel". Therefore, she didn't realize that stronger denials might have
    been appropriate.

I don't know what the audience reaction was or if stuff was generated
in the general public because of this.

There are always people ready to hear, believe, and spread the lies
about groups if it fits into their mindset. (It has even been know to
    happen in Bagels :^} )
