731.0. "Terrible thing.Sorry I had to be the one to tell." by JEREMY::RIVKA () Fri Jul 07 1989 05:42

    For those of you who hadn't heard the news yesterday:
    Yesterday morning, the 405 bus from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem (a direct bus)
    was attacked by an arab terrorist.According to eye witnesses, when the
    bus was just off Telz Stone (a Yeshiva on the way to J-m) the terrorist
    came to the driver, grabed the stirring wheel and turned it to the
    right. The bus "flew" straight down the hill, cought on fire and burnt.
    14 people were killed,27 injured.
    Please don't start an issue about terrorism in this note.It is not the
    place.
    It's a sad day to all of us.
           Rivka

    The killer survived with just some light injuries. There's no justice.

I'm not so sure about "no justice". I think Israel knows what to do with this
type of person once he is in custody. I understand that some extremists feel
that a suicidal attack is a ticket to heaven -- this is one terrorist who
won't get there. Also, the opportunity to interrogate the attacker must be
worth something.

I am saddened by the incident, but glad that the perpetrator was caught so he
will get what he deserves.
