			ROOMMATE-SITUATION WANTED

My wifes cousin is moving to Boston (from Myrtle beach,S.C.) in two
weeks and will be working in the downtown Boston. She is interested
in finding a roomate situation in Brookline/Newton/Brighton/Allston
areas that would be accessible to public transportation (green-line,
busses, etc.) as she must have T-access to commute to & from work.

INFORMATION:
-----------

I'm not sure what you mean by "appropriate listings", but there
is an office on Harvard Street in Brookline called "Matching Roomates."
They charge a fixed rate for you to come in and peruse their files
of "housing available, roommates wanted" listings. It's a little
like a dating service--registrants include such details as their sex,
occupation, hobbies, eating/smoking habits, tolerance for noise, etc.,
etc. When you find somebody you like, you make the 'match' on your
own. If you already have a house/apartment and are looking for
    roommates, the registration is free.

I know a couple of people who did well with this agency.

I must clarrify my initial wording in the base note:

Non-drinker = drinks socially in moderation, not a "lush"

My cousin thought my wording "non-smoker & non-drinker" would be
construed to mean a homebody that's no fun. It's been a while since
I was 24 yrs. old and single...........so excuse my "misrepresentation"

    Hi,

Harvard Hillel also maintains a notebook full of listings of people
--both grad students and working folk--seeking roommates/rooming
situations. If she has special needs (for example, if she'd like a
kosher apartment) that would be listed as well. They're at 74 Mount
    Auburn Street in Cambridge.

Synagogue bulletin boards might also be a good place to look...

also try the B.U. Hillel and various synogogues in that area.
You could put up notices there as well.

    good luck!
