649.0. "Help requested from ISO,IST,..." by FILTER::LIFLAND (Saying PLEASE is polite DEMANDING) Mon Feb 20 1989 16:29

Sholom ISO (or IST,ISV,...)

On April 11 I shall be arriving in Israel (with my wife and two
children) to for a two week visit of my parents and other assorted
	friends and relatives.

No I don't need the name of a good hotel or the price of a airline
ticket (I am booked on ElAl and will be staying at the Sharon). This
is my fourth trip and I have enough relatives so I don't need a list
of sights or good kosher Chinese restaurants. My requests are quite
	simple.
First, This being my first trip since I have become a legitimate
DEC employee, I thought it would be enjoyable to tour different
DEC sites and meet new and different fellow Bagelites (sp). I'll
even buy a round of coffee (or whatever).
Second, because I will have several projects in-progress when
I leave, I would like to establish a means (ie vaxmail) in which
my group manager could reach me without having to make a international
phone call to my Hotel (which I will only be sleeping at). The ability
for my manager to send VAX-mail to the ISO office and for them to
make a local call would be greatly appreciated. Even better, if I could
visit ISO and use a terminal to check my mail over the network would
	be a great help.

					Mark Lifland (morDECai ben zeef)

P.S.	By the way ElAl has a family plan (airfare). Two weeks after I made
my reservation, my travel agent called me informing me that there
had been a price change. When she confirmed the price it turns out
I had saved about $600 because I was now on family plan. I'm not
sure if this is a "new" plan but the price is now reasonable.

		each adult $799 round trip
	1st child 3/4 fare 599 " "
	2nd-??th 1/2 fare 399 " "

Maybe this is not cheep, but for a peak travel season you could do
	worse

    Mark,

>> On April 11 I shall be arriving in Israel

You picked a very nice time of the year to visit Israel (Pesach),
    its not too hot.

>> ticket (I am booked on ElAl and will be staying at the Sharon).

If you've booked the Sharon in Herzliya, you are very near the main
DIGITAL office. Its a 10-15 jog from the hotel to the DIGITAL
    buildings :-)

If you contact me off-line, we'll see what we can do.

    Regards,
    						..... Monty @ISO

P.S >> good kosher Chinese restaurants.
A Kosher Chinese (Thai-style !!) restaurant just opened
    	    up by the DIGITAL building.

How about if you agreed to
rewrite SDC PCSA VT220 to support right-to-left
rewrite SDC DECnet/DOS SETHOST to support right-to-left
    		.. ..

    Hi,

I always find that reasons are easy, money is secondary,
but convincing oneself about the practicalities is far more
    difficult!
