555.0. "BAGELites are everywhere!" by BOSTON::SOHN (Grand Parade of Lifeless Packaging) Thu Sep 22 1988 17:42

A funny thing happened to me in shul on Yom Kippur...

A friend invited me to stay over for the holyday in Swampscott. We
davened at Ahavat Shalom in Lynn. Towards the end of Mincha/start of
Neilah, a guy behind me starts making conversation - does he know me,
where am I from, what do I do. I say I work for DEC - and the guy
next to him says - "So do I". He then asks me if I read BAGELS!

Very humorous. Mr. Buchsbaum then introduced himself, and we chatted
for a bit. Turns out we were not the only Digits in attendance, either.

Anyone else have any pleasant surprises?

	You're the rabbi's son, I understand. He's a decent speaker...I
didn't agree with some of the things he said on Kol Nidre eve,
but it was fun listening to him. Larry did mention you were there,
	now that I recall.

Nothing personal, but next year, I want to celebrate near my place in
	Brookline!

There were a couple of Bagleites sitting in the row behind me (talking
about Bagles) on Rosh HaShananah at Harvard, and I saw another on Yom
Kippur evening.

Martin.

As the Bagel-talker referred to in .3, imagine how eerie and delightful
it was for me to be describing Bagels, and notes, to an non-DEC friend, and
then have Martin turn around to introduce himself as one of the
    Bagels moderators.

A funny thing happened to me at Yom Kippur. Turns out that a person
wrote to me on another issue. After some discussion, we discovered
that we are both members of Beth Israel synagogue in Worcester.
My family was away so I decided not to bother going; who wants to
sit by themselves...not I. Well, we met there and sat together.
It made the service much nicer. And I have a new friend.

    Not a bad deal!!!
