| really? I am surprised that EL AL is booked up, because I
was just in Israel and all the talk was about the lack
of turism. Also, all the tours were nice and empty.
I know this does not help you, I am sorry

Hi Amy--
I know, I've heard this also. El Al's response to lack of tourism,
apparently, is to run fewer flights. /Fern

502.3 | Where have all the tickets gone, | ZACHOR::SHS | Steve Schwartz * ISTG | Tue Jul 19 1988 17:23 | 6 |
| Perhaps the otherwise unsold seats were bought in advance by tour
operators and consolidaters. Try calling Nesher Travel in Brookline
and other agents.

Fly SWISS AIR and feel the difference.
The 'quality' of El Al flights lately has been terrible.

I still prefer "B'vaksha" to "Bitte Shein".
Re: .0
I'd also try calling Ideal Tours in New York. I've heard that Mr.
Elbaum can work wonders.

502.8 | Have a stop! | ULYSSE::LEHKY | I'm phlegmatic, and that's cool | Wed Jul 27 1988 10:53 | 9 |
| In case nothing else works, try to go to Israel via a stop somewhere
in Europe (Zurich, Frankfurt, Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam). El Al has
connections to all major European airports, and most European airlines
have Israel on their flight plans, too.
re .6: SWISSAIR personnel do also speak English and French, so,
no need to speak German :-)

I agree that you should fly Swiss Air.
We flew to Israel last July on EL AL. There personnel are obnoxious.
You don"t get the same treatment that other airlines give. They
left Boston Over 12 Hours late and Because the departure would
have meant getting into Israel after sundown Shabbot we ended
up at Heathrow. We in effect wasted two days of our tour. I
could go on but let it suffice to say that it is YOUR gelt
that you are spending, so you might as well get your money's
worth.
BTW, Swiss Air's security was equally good as EL AL and their
courtesy was many times better.

502.10 | no rules.... | TAVENG::GOLDMAN | | Fri Jul 29 1988 03:48 | 8 |
| I have flown on many airlines. I find that there tend to be
no hard and fast rules about the "goodness" of the
experience. I've had real losers on most of the major
airlines. I've also had fine flights on all of them.
One point for El-AL - it's the only airline on which you can
get kosher food which is not six weeks older than the food
served to your neighbors :-)
