493.0. "Daycare in the Marlboro Area" by DELNI::SCHULTZ (Marc Schultz) Wed Jul 06 1988 09:33

I'm starting the very uncomfortable task of planning for daycare.
Living in Marlboro MA, with a pregnant wife, everyone is telling
me how difficult it is to find daycare for an infant. When I called
the State Department for Children they gave me a company in Framingham
that keeps a list of "Licensed" Daycare Providers. Besides being
all new to me this seems like an awfully cold way to find care for
a child. We're looking for someone in the Marlboro area in the
December to January timeframe. If anyone has any suggestions, comments
    or recommendations I'm listening.

Digital now provides a resource organization that may help in
placement. Check with your PSA about how to use this new "benefit".

    Av,
I'm a contractor, so I have no PSA. I guess I've got to do
    it the old fashion way.
    				Thanks for trying,

Please check Parenting for more details.

In Massachusetts there is a system of Child Care Resource and
Referral Centers. These are non-profit organization originally
funded by state and United Way Funds. They are now partially
funded by private industry. Digital has paid into this scheme.
The group at Digital serves as a contact point to help you
get in touch with the proper CCRR. In addition, each CCRR now
has "corporate" representatives that handle the companies that
	pay in.

But CCRR are free and can be used by ANYONE! You probably got the
number of the one in Framingham (Child Care Search Inc.). Feel
free to call. They will give you about 5 names to try. You can
call back any number of times.

The idea of the CCRR is to help eliminate all the agony of placing
ads and looking at ads and not knowing what is available. The
CCRR has a list of licensed providers. If the provider is willing,
he/she is called quarterly to get an update of availability.
The CCRR has on file things like available, smoker or not, pets or not,
location, etc. The CCRR does NOT make recommendations. That's for
	you to check for yourself.

You ought to give them a try. They really are a friendly group.
Infant care is real real hard to find. Most providers want 2 years
and older just because it's easier and the regulations are easier.

I found my current one using Child Care Search Inc (I have a 4 year
old in child care) and I have been really happy.

	Good luck!
