I heard this too, Steve, from a friend in Israel. The "average"
person's duty is up to 60 days, apparently; more for officers. /Fern

| Could somebody in Israel supply more details on this, please?
The things I'm interested in are whether this is supposed to be
temporary, or the new standard, and whether it's retroactive (for
those who are already in miluim), or only for those who are about
to transition from full-time to reserve.
The numbers I remember before the increase were:
privates 30 days
non-coms 45 days
officers 60 days
Can you also supply the new numbers?
Steve

Its only supposed to be for the present financial year. As temporary
as anything else ;-)

No

No. The maximum number of days is for the WHOLE financial year.

Sorry, don't quite understand the question.

One of our group's projects currently has about five people
working on it. It's a real pain because usually you have
someone who is just leaving, currently out, or has just returned
and needs to get up to speed again.
BTW, the 60 days is always broken up into at least two stints
with about 4-8 months in between.
One of the more interesting aspects of life in Israel is the
ability to cope with things and the speed which new twists on
life are assimilated into routine.

475.6 | Reserve means also discretion | TAVIS::JUAN | | Mon Jun 13 1988 11:42 | 9 |
| Friends:
Being the reserve duty a specific military matter, I don't believe
it should be a matter of public discussion (at least on this side
of TAVLAND).

| Juan,
You are correct that military matters should not be discussed in
public. This includes such things as military units, location, bases
etc etc....
However, maximum length of miluim duty has been publicly announced on
the news and been reported extensivly in the local newspapers.
It has also been reported in the international press, thus we can't
define it even as a small military secret. ;-) ;-)
Shhh,

Juan,
You should know better !!!
If you want to know, please fill-in form DEC ISR2378/89 June 1986
edition and get it countersigned by AT LEAST two deceased Vice
Presidents [If you have difficulty finding two deceased VP --- we
can arrange an accident -;) -;)].
With the aforementioned forms you then send them through inter-office
mail to the Australian subsiduary in order that an external examiner
can review the material.
If they O.K the request, then I *MIGHT* tell you -;) -;)
Anyway, since I started working here I only drink the coffee the
tea is **!!??
