381.0. "SHARONITES UNITE" by OLDMAN::KARLSBERG () Wed Sep 30 1987 12:52

    How about a notes file on anyone from good old Sharon. How about
    when you moved there, how long you lived there, what schools you
    went to, etc....etc....etc.

    We moved to Sharon around 1951. Lived down the "Heights" until
    1969. Graduated Sharon High in 1965. I believe I attended
    every school in town...from the old school on School St. to
    the high school on Pond St.

    Let's hear from ya..

    Here's your first note from a Sharonite. My name is Alan Ross.
    I moved there in 1963, when my first wife was pregnant with our
    son.

    I'm also in the "Heights" at the corner of Berkshire and South
    Main Street. My son, Larry, graduated SHS in 1982. He went to
    Heights Elementary, then the Middle School (the "original" High
    School), Sharon Junior High on Pond Street and finally the "new"
    High School on Mountain Street.

    My daughter, Melissa, also went to Heights Elementary, but when
    my first wife and I split, Melissa went with her and Larry stayed
    with me in Sharon.

    My sister and brother-in-law moved to Sharon in 1953. When they
    first moved there, my parents and I would visit them and I would
    think to myself how "rural" it was (although I liked the concept
    of its being rural). I still kiddingly say that when they moved
    there, the Indians were still attacking the white-man.

    I don't know if you've been there recently, the town is really
    booming. We're scheduled to get traffic lights *within* the town,
    not just at its borders. They'll be in the Center, at Gunhouse and
    South Main, and at Walpole Street and South Main.

    In BAGELS, there's a bunch (8 or 9 ?, maybe more) of us who either
    now live in, or have come from, Sharon. Look in the Notes entitled
    "Not From New York" and "Registration" (around 416, I think, unless
    I'm getting them confused with other Conferences).

    Well, I was close - give or take 50.

    "Not From New York" is Note 340 and "Registration" is Note 360.

    Glad I majored in Math.

Hi fellow-Sharonites --

I'm Joan Hoffman (Greengross), and my family moved to Sharon in 1959. My
brother, Steve, graduated from Sharon High in 1960, and is the Vice-Principal
at the Plymouth-Carver Intermediate School. I graduated Sharon High in
1965 (with Alan!). My mother still resides on West St., which is in the
Heights.

Boy has Sharon changed!! I'm amazed at not only how the town has grown, but
how very expensive the homes are. Who would have thought this years ago
when the town was about 12,000 or so?!

381.6The HeightsMTADMS::KARLSBERGMon Oct 12 1987 13:299
    Alan R., I'm a little curious. What's your sisters name and where
    in Sharon does/did she live. My folks still live at the Heights
    (Suffolk Rd.). I've been watching the progress of the lights at
    Gunhouse St. (pretty exciting stuff). I didn't know there was a
    high school on Mountain St.

    I remember when we moved in, the streets at the Heights were not even
    paved, you didn't have to dial 784 when making phone calls, the Heights
    Shopping Center was even up, etc. etc.
381.7Whoops. Sorry About That.FDCV03::ROSSMon Oct 12 1987 14:5215
    RE: .6

    Alan K., upon re-reading my .3, I realize I got the schools back-assward.
    I meant to say, the "new" Junior High on Mountain Street and the
    High School on Pond Street.

    My sister and brother-in-law, Libby and Harvey Wolff, live on
    Bay Road, at the corner of Leonard Road, in Queen Acres. (It's
    been a while since I heard it called that).

    I know there's a Karlberg Electrical Contractor. Are you related
    to them?

      Alan

381.8NO PROBLEMOLDMAN::KARLSBERGMon Oct 12 1987 17:185
    Now we're getting somewhere. I used to work for Karlsberg Electric,
    he's my father. It's also nice to know that I haven't lost total
    touch with what's going on in Sharon. I know the area where your
    sister and brother-in-law live quite well. Do they have any children,
    and if they do, how old are they??
381.9Tell Me You Went To School With ThemFDCV03::ROSSMon Oct 12 1987 17:545
    Alan, they have 3 kids. Their oldest is Michael (Mickey) who is
    34. Their middle is Lori, 33. The youngest is my niece Randi (my
    sister liked that name) who'll be 26 in March.
