245.0. "Klezmer band?" by CARLIN::LEMAIRE (Sarah Hosmer Lemaire) Mon Dec 08 1986 15:22

    Does anyone know if the Boston-based Klezmer Conservatory Band is
    still in business and playing around Boston? They were very popular
    and very much in evidence about 3 years ago. I haven't seen anything
    about them recently.

     Last time I saw them was earlier this year, at Faneuil Hall on First
     Night. They were in fine form and had the joint rocking (much to the
     chagrin of The Authorities).

They certainly are!

I know a the leader and a couple of the players (I almost _joined_ that
band a couple of years ago!).

If you need to get into contact, I can give you the numbers.

245.3Marvin Weinberger USED to play violin in that bandREGINA::OSMANand silos to fill before I feep, and silos to fill before I feepTue Dec 09 1986 09:5311
An old friend of mine, Marvin Weinberger, used to be in that band.
I've lost contact with him, and last I heard he went to Philadelphia
for a business venture.

Anyone know if he's still in the band ? He played the violin. Or
who replaced him ?

/Eric

p.s.	Sorry about getting the MAUS author name wrong in my review, Kathy!

    Yeah, a friend of mine was the drummer. I just would like to see
    them play again sometime. I don't need to contact them unless that's
    the only way to get a schedule. I keep my eyes semi-pealed to the
    CALENDAR section of the Globe.

    Maybe if someone who reads this notes file is aware of their schedule,
    they could post it here. First Night again maybe?

    Thanks,

245.5It just so happens...GRAMPS::LISSESD&P ShrewsburyTue Dec 09 1986 11:439
    Guess what? They are performing at the DEC facility here in
    Shrewsbury as part of the valuing differences program. They will
    be in the Shrewsbury amphitheater on December 23. The performance
    begins at 11:30.

    If you want to contact them you can probably do it through the
    Shrewsbury Employee's Activity Committee.

245.9Will there be enough room?GOBLIN::ROSENBERGDick Rosenberg VRO5-2/C7Wed Dec 10 1986 08:506
    If I make the effort and schlep out to Shrewsbury (from VRO - Concord
    if I do it from from work or Harvard if I do it from home), is there
    any chance that there will not be enough room? How big is your
    amphitheatre? (I realize this is probably a hard one to call).
